Peaceable Coercion➔ The Embargo ​which prevented American ships from leaving the U.S for any foreign
ports anywhere in the world, it was prohibited.
◆ The Congress had passed the force act to help enforce the Embargo Act. This
helped to make sure there was no incidents overseas.
➔ Although the Embargo act caused economic depression especially for the majority of
federalist, ship owners, and merchants, ppl losing money everyday.--- The Embargo act
was considered unconstitutional.
➔ Later Thomas Jefferson step down off of presidency. Before him leaving a new law
passed called “​peaceable coercion”
◆ Congress places the ​non-intercourse​ act to the replace the Embargo, during
James Madison taking office. It meant opening trade with all nations except for
France and Britain.
