Imperialism PROJECT: Movie Poster & PLOT SUMMARY
Since the early days of movies, studios have printed posters to advertise their films. These
posters often feature the names and photographs of the main actors, the film title in large
lettering, and may also include a tagline, the name of the director, names of characters, the
release date, etc. It is also common for movie posters to use persuasive propaganda
techniques to convince people to see the movie.
Many of today’s moviegoers are also interested in reading a summary of a film’s plot before
spending their time and money to see a film. The objective of a plot summary is to condense
the plot of a 2 hour movie into a short, interesting synopsis that will make people want to see
the movie.
To demonstrate your understanding of Imperialism, you will generate an
idea for a movie about Imperialism in Africa, the Middle East, India, or Asia.
You will create a persuasive poster to promote the movie, and write a plot
summary to provide a written review of the main ideas of Imperialism that
would be included in the plot.
