Job Title: Salary: FSLA Status: Primary Location: Program/Dept: Reports to: Revision date: Prevention Project Assistant DOE Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt South San Francisco SAMHSA prevention Project Supervisor & Project Director 01/05/2016 JOB SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Project Director and Project Supervisor, the Project Assistant supports and assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of an innovative, interdisciplinary prevention program for Asian and Pacific Islander (A&PI) young adults (18-24 years of age) in San Francisco and Santa Clara Counties. The program aims are: 1) to prevent Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS among the target population with an emphasis on men who have sex with men (MSM), individuals who identify in the LGBTQ spectrum, and individuals who misuse or abuse substances; 2) to describe risky and protective behaviors of the target population; 3) encourage HIV and Hepatitis screening. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: OUTREACH: Conduct outreach activities in the counties served in delivery of the prevention program. Assist the Project Supervisor or the Project Director with preparing press releases and networking through various media. IMPLEMENTATION: Facilitate prevention activities in the counties served in the delivery of workshops. Assist in the convening key informant groups and key stakeholder advisory group, to identify risky behaviors and protective factors for A&PI communities related to these two health areas. Assist in testing and developing prevention activities towards motivating individuals to test for HIV and Hepatitis as well as preventing or reducing risky behaviors associated with Substance Abuse, HIV, and Hepatitis. Maintain communication with participants to assure timely and accurate data collection, completion of workshop series, and referrals to additional services. DATA COLLECTION Support in gathering and summarizing relevant literature targeting atrisk populations to improve program development. Working with other program staff along with the external evaluation consultant (example: community needs assessment e.g. survey questionnaire, focus groups; and subsequent evaluation efforts). Keep detailed field notes and collect behavioral screening surveys from identified populations of focus. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Assist the Project Supervisor or the Project Director with the development of presentations highlighting project successes and lessons learned. Assist in coordination and convening of meetings, phone conferences, and training. Assist in writing of project needs assessment, evaluation, quarterly reports, and updates. And, other duties as assigned.
