Lesson Title: The Gettysburg Address and its impact on our country.

1. Set Induction: Honoring all those who have died.
a. Discuss why we celebrate Memorial Day.
b. Students write down people they know who have served in the Armed
Forces.
c. Read Gettysburg Address from the textbook and poster.
d. Go to http://www.PresidentLincoln.org, show students how to navigate
through the site.
2. Aims/Objectives and Standards:
a. Student will gain knowledge of what was said by Lincoln at Gettysburg.
b. Students will gain understanding and importance of Lincoln’s address.
c. Students will apply the principles that Lincoln espoused in the address.
3. Procedures, Assessments and Materials Required:
a. Review Gettysburg Address as part of the Civil War unit.
b. Make use of the Gettysburg Address poster and website.
c. Review the Kids Discover Lincoln booklet.
d. Students will work with partners through the project in their
investigation.
