FOUND WHERE?
Cut foldable vertically to middle line, making 3 tabs to write notes under.
• Sedimentary rocks are found in layers, formed
from ancient seas or from deposition of
sediments.
FORMED HOW?
 Sediments are made from weathering of rocks
 then carried by ice, wind or water (erosion) and
deposited
 sediments get compacted together in layers
 eventually cemented together when the minerals
dissolve to form a natural glue which holds
sediments in place.
CHARACTERISTICS
Sedimentary Rocks are classified into 3 groups
1) Clastic – formed by mechanical weathering
2) Chemical – forms when minerals come out
of a solution and settle on the ocean floor
3) Organic – formed from the compaction of
plant remains
