Reading and Language Arts: Both Sessions: Listen to the story, Five Little Dinosaurs Jumping on the Bed, ordering of events, repetitive phrases for fluency, using actions that correspond with the text, cause/effect, math, counting, one to one correspondence, subtraction, movement of jumping, recognizing safe/unsafe movement PreK Only: Chart words that begin with the letter “A”- initial sounds, phonics, letter recognition, phonemic awareness Fine Motor/Math/Geometry/Cognitive: Both Sessions: Visual perception and upper body strengthening- building designs on geoboards with geobands (AKA rubber bands), following pattern cards and inventing designs on geoboards, 3D shape recognition, critical thinking, logic, problem solving PreK Only: Handwriting Without Tears Workbook- uppercase letter “A”, ABC book Letter “A” Science: Both Sessions: Dinosaur Wind-Up Toys in the Water Table- movement, speed, fast/slow, 3-finger grasp, patience, cause/effect, on/off, go/stop, powering by turning a simple spring, mechanics, buoyancy, float/sink HomeFUN: Both Sessions: If weather permits-safely- MOVE outside and play! Run, jump, and bounce safely! J PreK Students Only: 1. Review the two flashcards sent home: one of uppercase letter “A” and one of lowercase embedded alphabet letter “a” (apple picture). Gross Motor/Social Studies: Both Sessions: Dinosaur Bean Bag Boogie Dance- dancing to bean bag songs listening to the positional concepts and body parts (put bean bag on head, put bean bag above knee), supervised wheelbarrow walks on extended arms to retrieve bean bags and to build upper body strength, throwing bean bags into a bucket, dancing, coordination, moving together as a team, participation Art/Music: Both Sessions: Spinning Spectacular Art- using a salad spinner to make art designs while listening to music, listening to tempo and rhythm, spinning fast/slow to make swirls, making predictions, color recognition, fun, fine motor manipulation control, crossing midline, movement, creativity, processing, before/after, cause/effect, elbow and wrist stability, muscular dexterity Learning Centers: Both Sessions: Dinosaur Fossils and Footprints- making impressions with dinosaurs in playdough, pressure, force, fine motor, sensory, working together
