More child deaths are related to stunting and MND than SAM because they affect many more children (167 million in developing countries are stunted) • Stunting is also associated with and reduced physical and cognitive capacity for life • The Lancet 2008 studies reported that height-for-age at 2 years was the best predictor of human capital • The effects of stunting are intergenerational WFP’s WFP has the infrastructure, opportunity, and comparative advantage to address MNDs.
