“Guzheng – the Chinese zither”

Shu Jiang, professional guzheng and guqin player and currently a PhD
student at the Department of Music, will speak about the fascinating
world of the Chinese zither and its place in Chinese music. From an
introduction to the guzheng’s history and the various existing schools
and styles to the pleasures and challenges of learning to play the
instrument, Shu Jiang will introduce the Chinese zither in a lecture that
will include a brief Q&A session.
The talk will be followed by a short musical performance by Shu Jiang
and her students.
