Jelly bean taste test Notes for teachers: First check for allergies or meat additives as you may have vegetarians in your class and some varieties of jelly bean are made with animal products. You will need a bag of jelly beans that are different colours AND different flavours, beware some economy beans which are a variety of colours all just taste of sugar! Then decide on and sort out four varieties that are corrsponding colours and flavours eg. lemon, orange, strawberry and blackcurrant. Children work in pairs. Each pair needs a record sheet and a set of four beans in a feely bag or bowl with a cover to ensure that they cannot see the beans either before or after they have taken one. The taster is blindfolded or closes their eyes and the scribe offers the bag and records responses when the taster: smells the bean tastes the bean sees the bean. © www.teachitprimary.co.uk 2014 21691 Page 1 of 2 Jelly bean taste test Tester name: ...........................................Scribe name: ...................................................................
