Clinical/Research Interests
Dr. Jennifer Li is an Assistant Professor at the UC Davis Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Science. Dr. Li graduated cum laude in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University. She subsequently received her medical degree and residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the University of California, Davis. Her clinical interests focus on providing the most advanced techniques in corneal transplantation and complex cataract and anterior segment surgeries to her patients, including the newest techniques for endothelial keratoplasty, deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty and traditional penetrating keratoplasty. She is currently the primary surgeon for the Implantable Miniature Telescope program for macular degeneration at UC Davis. Additionally, Dr. Li offers the latest treatments in LASIK/refractive surgery. Dr. Li's research also focuses on novel corneal transplantation techniques and keratoprosthesis surgery. She has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters, and has lectured nationally and internationally on these topics. Dr. Li is actively involved with the Eye Bank Association of America where she the vice-‐chair of the EBAA Medical Advisory Board and a member of the Accreditation Board. She is a member of the Sierra Donor Services Advisory Board. Philosophy of Care
Dr. Li strives to care for her patients as she would her own family. She is committed to
the overall welfare and eye health of her patients and looks to develop a relationship of
mutual trust and respect with them. Dr. Li believes that education is the first step in
empowering patients to be actively involved in their own medical care. She feels strongly
that educating patients about their disease process allows them to make better decisions
about their treatment plan in order to meet their individual needs.
