We hope you’ll join us for this timely event where you’ll have the opportunity to share ideas with other statelevel policymakers and learn more about the Children’s Cabinet Network and the Ready by 21 framework.
As you prepare for your trip to Washington, DC, we hope you’ll find the following information useful. If you

Travel Reimbursements : What’s Covered & What’s Not
• All participants will be reimbursed up to $400 for the cost of their flight. Each participant will receive a
two night stay at The Residence Inn, Arlington Capital View.
• Local and ground transportation costs will not be covered.
• Symposium events will include group meals at the following times:
- Lunch during meetings on June 8 & 9. Breakfast at the hotel is included with your stay.
- Dinner on June 8
• Attendance is required for reimbursement.
Travelling to Washington, D.C.
• As you begin to make your travel plans, please keep a few things in mind:

Plan to arrive in Washington no later than the evening of June 7. We recommend that return flights be
scheduled for anytime in the late afternoon or evening of June 9.

The Forum will reimburse the cost of your ticket up to $400.(Please let us know of any special
circumstances.)

Washington Regan National Airport (DCA) is the closest and most convenient airport to our hotel and
meeting area. As we are not covering ground transportation costs, we recommend selecting DCA
when making your flight arrangements.
• Once you arrive at Washington Regan National Airport, you may get to the hotel by:

Taking the complimentary shuttle provided by The Residence Inn, Crystal City. The hotel shuttle pick
up area located outside of baggage claim.
OR

Taking the metro. Take the Blue Line from the airport to Crystal City towards Largo Town Center (cost
is $1.60). From the metro, the hotel shuttle will pick you up and bring you to the hotel. For more
information and schedules, please call 703-415-1300.

Taking a cab, (cost is about $10-$15). This cost will not be reimbursed by the Forum.

From Residence Inn to Hill Briefing

Shuttle leaves from Residence Inn Capitol View at 7:30am sharp and goes to Crystal City metro
stop
Take the blue line toward Largo Town Center metro station
Exit the train at Capital South metro station

From Hill Briefing to RAND Corporation

If exiting Rayburn at the Independence Avenue exit, turn right and walk two and a half blocks to
1st Street SW.
Turn right on 1st Street and walk half a block to the metro station.
Take the blue line toward Franconia metro Station
Exit the metro at Pentagon City
Once outside the metro station, walk across South Hayes Street directly to the RAND
Corporation.
From the RAND Corporation to dinner at the Brasserie Creperie – (about a 10 minute walk, .5 mi)

Walking out the front door of RAND, turn left and walk toward Army-Navy Drive.
Turn left on Army Navy Drive
Turn left on South Joyce Street
Continue straight and Brasserie Creperie will be on your left
June 9th
From the Residence Inn to the RAND Corporation

A shuttle will leave the hotel at 8am to bring guests to the RAND Corporation
From the RAND Corporation to the Hotel, Metro or Airport

A shuttle will pick guests up at the RAND Corporation at 3pm and bring them to the hotel or the
metro.
Shuttles to the airport can be picked up at the hotel.
From the RAND Corporation to Washington Reagan National Airport
- From the Pentagon City metro station,
take the blue line towards Franconia metro station OR
take the yellow line toward Huntington Station
- Get off at Washington Reagan National Airport (2 stops from Pentagon City)

Shuttles will be available at the following places and times:
Wednesday, June 8th
- 7:30 am – from the HOTEL to the CRYSTAL CITY METRO
- 8:30 pm – from the BRASSERIE CREPERIE to the HOTEL
Thursday, June 9th
- 8:00 am – from the HOTEL to RAND
- 3:00 pm – from RAND to the HOTEL, or METRO
There will also be shuttles available to and from the airport. Please inquire at the front desk.
