SPELLING CHOICES Each week you should choose 2 activities to complete for homework. These assignments will be checked on Friday. Each activity should be completed in your spelling homework notebook in neat handwriting. If it is printed please staple it into the homework notebook. 1. Red and Blue Write each of your spelling words with a pencil. Trace the vowels with a red crayon. Trace the consonants with a blue crayon. 2. Rainbow Words Write each spelling word using one crayon. Then trace over the word using a different crayon. Continue tracing over your words using a different color. Use 3 different crayons. 3. Pyramid Writing Write each spelling word in a pyramid. Example: h ho hom home 4. Magazine Words Write 10 of your most difficult spelling words. Then, find the word in the newspaper or a magazine. Cut the word out. Glue it beside the word. If you can't find the word, cut out letters to make the word. You may also use alphabet pasta. 5. Word Search Go to http://www.puzzle-maker.com/ or another word search creator and make a word search. Find your words. Color them yellow. Parents you may create the puzzle for your child. 6. Across and Down Write each spelling word going down. Color the word going down with a yellow crayon. Then write the word going across sharing the letter. 7. Rhyming Words Write each of your spelling words. Write a word that rhymes with the word beside it. 8. Alphabetical Order Write all your spelling words. Then write them in alphabetical order. Be sure to cross off each word as you write it in order. 9. Razzle Dazzle Words Write your words with your pencil. Trace the words with glue. Put glitter or sand on top of the glue. 10. Bubble /Fancy Letters Write each spelling word in plain neat letters. Then write them once more using bubble letters or fancy letters. Your letters can have curly-q's, squiggles, or dots. Be sure to color them. More choices on back 11. Spelling Shapes Draw a shape. Write each spelling word inside the shape. Then write the word along each outside edge of the shape. said said said said said 12. Adding My Words Write each word. Write the value of each letter. Then find the sum. Consonants are worth 10. Vowels are worth 5. 13. Draw and Label Draw a picture for each of your spelling words. Then label the picture. 14. Phone Number Words- Translate the letters of each spelling word into numbers using the keypad on the phone. Add all letters together to get total for each word. Example: jump- 5+8+6+7=26 15. Acrostic Poem Choose five of your more difficult spelling words. Write an acrostic poem for each word. You must also ILLUSTRATE your poem: fly: Fun in the sky Laps around clouds Yes! I’m free 16. Computer Words- Type your spelling words on the computer. Change the fonts and colors of each words. Print it out and staple or tape the page into your notebook. 17. Connect the Dots Write each of your spelling words in dots. Then, trace over the dots with a different color pencil or crayon. 18. Word Sort Make 4 columns on your paper. Label the columns with 1 vowel, 2 vowels, 3 vowels and 4 or more vowels. Sort each of the spelling words into the correct column.
