Welcome to all our new staff and please remember the library is available to help in
searching for information and help you obtain your needed books, journal articles or
multimedia resources.
For the month of FEBRUARY the library will be having a short Library Orientation
tour at 10.30am or 2.30pm every day. Appointments would be appreciated on 97228250 or just ask at the library front desk at the relevant times. The tour will be
approximately 15 minutes.
Library services: Our library services
MyAthens e-journal access
MyAthens allows access to, over 50 library paid subscriptions to electronic journals (full
text) and over 70 Open Access journal titles (free full text).This access is available from
home or the hospital.
Information skills training (ClAP/Proquest)
The library runs information skills training in searching the CIAP, Proquest and other
databases. One on one sessions are available by appointment or group sessions can be
arranged on request or via out training schedule advertised in our Library Lowdown
newsletter.
Journal/Book requests.
The Clinical library can supply you with journal articles or books not found within our
library collection at your requests. These requests can be done electronically by
registering for an E-Reg Code through our library website.
Library catalogue.
Our library catalogue is available via the library or our Clinical Library website on the
Intranet or Internet site. Renewals and reservations can be done over the internet as
well as searching the catalogue from home. The library catalogue allows you to search
all of the library collections at Bankstown, Bowral, Campbelltown, Canterbury,
Concord, Fairfield, and Liverpool.
Library Lowdown/Keeping-Up-To-Date
Our bimonthly library newsletter, LIBRARY LOWDOWN keeps you informed of the
library services and new resources available from the library. Our bimonthly
KEEPING-UP-TO-DATE newsletter features a recent article from the 5 health fields of
Allied health, Health management, Medical, Mental health and Nursing.
Literature search service.
Our literature search service is available to staff to help them in their information
needs for their clinical, study or administrative queries.
Standards service.
The library can deliver you the required Australian standard needed for your work
either electronically or in print form.
Colour printing & Laminating service.
We provide a colour printing and laminating service for A4 or A3 posters for work
related purposes. Personal printing incurs a cost, please ask at the library front
desk.
Remember assistance is available via telephone/email or interactive forms from
our website.

Information skills training:
Training sessions can be either by appointment or group classes.
Overview of CIAP
A basic overview of the available resources on the CIAP website, how to locate them, how to register to
use CIAP from home and apps available for hand held devices (1 hour).
CIAP Searching for Allied Health staff
A session tailored for Allied Health staff on how to locate and search CIAP resources (2 hours).
CIAP Searching for Medical staff
A session tailored for Medical staff on how to locate and search CIAP resources (2 hours).
CIAP Searching for Nursing staff
A session tailored for Nursing staff on how to locate and search CIAP resources (2 hours).
CIAP Searching – Drug Resources
This session demonstrates how to locate and use CIAP’s drug resources, including MIMS, Micromedex,
and Therapeutic Guidelines (1 hour).
Searching and Beyond – customised for you
This session provides tailored training in online resources available for research projects, literature
searches or professional development (one-to-one 1 hour and small groups 2 hours).
Tour of Athens
Take a 1 hour tour of the resources available on the CLIN Libraries’ Athens portal and learn how to set up
your own eTOCs (electronic table of contents).
Special training classes by groups: We can organise a training session specially tailored to your area of interest;
for example, Physiotherapy, Cardiology, Community Health workers

The Centre for Palliative Care is part of St. Vincent’s Hospital and is a Collaborative Centre of The
University of Melbourne, Australia. The Centre has a state-wide role in palliative care education and
research in Victoria, with networks and collaborative projects extending nationally and internationally.

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement is an independent, not for profit organisation which
opened in January 1996 and is the largest provider of grief and bereavement education in
Australia. Registered as a public benevolent institution, the Centre receives operational funding through
the Palliative Care Program of the Victorian Department of Health.
