Chemical and tissue preparation of the heart tissue for Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Heart dissections by mechanical disaggregation to separate the Epicardium. Performed exercise testing, personal training, and developed exercise programs for public school employees and retirees. Conducted assessments using the Exercise ExplorerTM and Tanita Weight Management InteractiveTM software. Performed lipid profile and glucose determinations in whole blood using the CardioChekTM device. Key Results: Played a key role in ensuring the successful launch of the fitness center. Assisted with the structure and implementation of programs and policies in the areas of training and facility usage as well as new-client orientations. Worked as Lab Assistant in the University of Arkansas exercise physiology lab. Performed exercise training in rodents (mice and hamsters) as well as various surgical procedures. Analyzed various animal tissues for biochemical indices as well as performed mitochondria isolation, mitochondrial oxygen consumption, glycogen determination and protein determination (Lowry’s method).
