EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES & CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the heart is becoming one of the preferred
methods to evaluate diseases affecting the heart, central vessels, and/or
surrounding structures. The course faculty will review the current status and
future of non-invasive cardiovascular imaging with MR. Topics include a basic
review and an introduction to updates on the latest research.
Upon the completion of this course participants should be able to:
 Have basic knowledge of Cardiovascular MR imaging techniques
 Review the clinical indications for the newer MR based angiographic
techniques in the evaluation of vascular diseases.
 Utilize cardiac MRI techniques to evaluate cardiac anatomy and function
 Utilize cardiac MRI to evaluate coronary artery disease and myocardial
viability
 Assess basic imaging protocols for most clinical referrals.

ACCREDITATION
This activity has been designated and implemented in accordance with the
essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation council for Continuing medical
education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Radiology Department
of Forsyth Medical Center and Novant Health. Novant Health is accredited by
the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Novant Health designated this educational activity for a maximum of 24
category 1 credits toward the AMA Physicians’s Recognition Award. Each
physician should claim only those credits actually spent in the activity.
No category 1 credit will be offered for the afternoon hand-on demonstrations
and patient/volunteer scanning.
Continuing Technologist and Nursing education.
Course approved by ASRT for 18.5 hrs of category A credit.
Who should attend.
Radiologists, cardiologists, medical physicists, technologists, nurses, and any
other healthcare professional interested in obtaining knowledge of the principles
of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and its implementation in a clinical
environment.

GENERAL INFORMATION – How to get to Location of Course
Training will take place in three state-of-the art Radiology Imaging Centers in
Winston-Salem, in the state of North Carolina, in the USA. Winston-Salem, in the
western part of North Carolina, is within 30 minutes by car from the the Piedmont
Triad International Airport (PTIA) in Greensboro . Winston-Salem is located in
Forsyth county, which is part of the North Carolina Piedmont Triad area.

We try to make a display and purchase of all new cardiovascular MR & CT books
available for one day during the course (optional).
PARKING: Parking is available in the patient and visitor parking sections only.
HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS:
There are several hotels in downtown Winston-Salem and near Forsyth Medical
center (as listed on web site http://www.duerinckx.com/0scholar.htm) . Please
consult your own travel agent.
