NSBE comprises of more than four hundred chapters that represent collegiate, alumni and pre-college members in the United States, Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. NSBE had its genesis in April 1975 in Region IV on the campus of Purdue University. Its founders were 6 highly motivated young men (Anthony Harris, Brian Harris, Stanley L. Kirtley, John W. Logan Jr., Edward A. Coleman and George A. Smith). In 1976, NSBE was incorporated under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a nonprofit organization in the State of Texas. NSBE Mission To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS | REGION V 2014 - 2015 LETTER FROM THE FINANCE CHAIR Dear Prospective Corporate Partner, My name is Chika Chima, Finance Chair for Region V of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). As the elected liaison between Region V and potential corporate partners, I am pleased to invite your company to partner with us in efforts to fulfill our Mission “to increase the number of culturally responsible, black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community". Encompassing 10 states, Region V is the largest region in NSBE and offers your company exposure to thousands of engineering students and professionals. Corporate partnerships are paramount to our ability to succeed in fulfilling our Mission each year, reinforcing the national directives of NSBE, and achieving the goals of our region. Region V is known as the “Vanguard Region” because we have always led the way in pioneering new programming and innovative methods for furthering the Mission of NSBE. We take pride in our chapters and their ability to led by example and impact their respective communities while enriching our membership. As an organization, we look to support our chapters in hosting programs that advance our overall mission;; such as A Walk for Education and the NSBE Retention Program. However, Region V’s most significant impact upon its chapters is done through programming and workshops that we host at our two signature events: Regional Leadership Conference and Fall Regional Conference. The following packet highlights opportunities at our Regional Leadership Conference that are available to your company to aid us in our efforts. We invite you to partner with us in making a positive impact on minorities in STEM related fields, while giving your company access to our deep talent pool. If you have any questions or concerns regarding event participation, sponsorship contributions, or commitments, feel free to contact me.
