Chaperone Guide
Grades 6 through 8 Scavenger Hunt —
Answers and Talking Points
Students should draw any connections that they think are possible.
• All animals should have a connection with the rainforest trees, sun and rain
• Students should have a high number of arrows when they are finished —
each animal should have at least three connections
• Think about it! We want students to recognize that there are a large number
of connections within an ecosystem, and if any one part of that ecosystem is
missing than many living things may be threatened. When humans overuse
habitats or materials, we take things away from wildlife that they need to
survive. One example of this is the vast deforestation that occurs in the
Amazon rainforest — 20% of the entire forest has disappeared since 1970.
