Prophase:
•  Chromatin condenses into chromosomes
•  Nuclear envelope disappears
Metaphase
•  Sister chromatids line up at equator of cell
•  Sister chromatids held together at
centromere
Anaphase
•  Sister chromatids separate and move apart.
•  Spindle attached at kinetochore contracts to
pull chromatids to opposite poles
Telophase
•  Chromatids arrive at opposite poles.
•  Nuclear envelope reforms around DNA that
loosens and expands
