Summary
This document contains North County Transit District’s (NCTD) Equal Employment Opportunity
EEO) policy.
Policy
NCTD is an EEO employer. It is against District policy to base employment decisions, the
treatment and/or advancement of employees, or any aspect of personnel policies and procedures
on the basis of race, color, religious creed (including religious dress and grooming practices), sex
including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and related medical conditions), age ( 40 and
above), marital status/domestic partner status, sexual orientation, national origin ( including
language use restrictions), ancestry, gender, transgender, gender identity, or gender expression,
disability (mental and physical disabilities, including HIV/AIDS), medical conditions (e.g. cancer,
genetic characteristics), genetic information, family and medical care leave, military and veteran
status, or any other classification protected by applicable discrimination laws. The District will
make reasonable accommodations in appropriate cases for qualified individuals with disabilities,
if it can do so without undue hardship.
This policy applies to all employment practices as they pertain to any position for which an
applicant or an employee is qualified.
All other personnel actions, including ( and without limitation to) hiring, transfers, promotions,
compensation, benefits, and training will be administered with the objective of this policy of nondiscrimination.
In the development and implementation of its personnel policies and procedures, NCTD will
continue to base decisions solely on job-related qualifications and requirements of the position
for which the individual is being considered.
All NCTD management staff are responsible for maintaining a working environment of equal
employment opportunity, including an environment free of sexual harassment and discrimination,
and assisting in attainment of NCTD EEO goals.
NCTD will not tolerate unlawful discrimination or harassment, including sexual
harassment, of NCTD employees.
NCTD employees shall not be subjected to retaliation for filing a discrimination complaint
or assisting in any proceeding relating to a discriminatory complaint.
All NCTD managers and supervisors shall receive AB1825 sexual harassment prevention
training and education within six (6) months of assuming a new managerial/supervisory
position and every two (2) years thereafter.
All claims of unlawful discrimination and harassment are taken very seriously. Violation of this
policy may subject NCTD employees to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
