Animal Farm Propaganda Project English I Honors In groups of two, your task is to create a political campaign for one of the characters in Animal Farm. Ask yourselves…if you were an animal on Animal Farm, who would you want to see in charge? Once you’ve chosen your character, do the following: Your campaign must include: Poster/visual Political speech including propaganda techniques Poster/Visual: Create a poster / visual for your character like the propaganda posters you have seen in this class You can hand draw this or create it on the computer to be displayed on the promethean board Your poster must include at least 3 propaganda techniques to promote your character’s political campaign Your poster should have a slogan on it too. Ex- Vote for… and the… Political Speech: Your speech should be organized in this manner: Introduction Body 1- Describe the present situation Body 2- Provide a vision of a better future Body 3- Call to action Conclusion Minimum of 1 minute (should be at least a page) Typed, double-spaced copy must be in my hands before you deliver the speech (one copy per group with all names on it) Your speech must have: o At least one rhetorical question- a question you don’t expect an answer to o At least one metaphor- direct comparison of two unlike things o Repetition o Propaganda techniques Propaganda Techniques: (Please include at least 3 of the following techniques in your speech) - Loaded words or phrases -Stereotyping - Name calling -Demoralizing the Enemy - Euphemisms -Glittering Generalities - Bandwagon - Testimonial - Transference - Bad Logic - Fear Grading Presentation / Speaking Grade—30 points You may display your speech on a power point or use notecards. You MAY NOT use the completed speech in front of the class You must learn your speech, but you may use notecards with key words and phrases All group members must speak for about the same amount of time.
