The Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount
Sinai (NYEE) was the first training program in this specialty in the Western Hemisphere. Over nearly two
centuries, the department has evolved to be an international referral center for the medical and surgical
treatment of diseases of the ear, nose, throat and face.
Outstanding Services: Ear Institute (Otology – Neuro-otology): Specializing in the care of acute and
chronic ear disease including hearing loss, cochlear implantation, dizziness, tinnitus, intra cranial tumors
and facial nerve disorders. Our advanced otologic and vestibular diagnostic labs assist physicians in
treatment.
Facial Plastic Surgery: Highly specialized and renowned surgeons perform in-office or ambulatory
procedures utilizing state-of-the-art technology and techniques to produce outstanding results with
minimal incisions, rapid recovery and a natural, youthful appearance.
Facial Paralysis: Comprehensive center treating all causes and offering reconstruction of the
paralyzed face.
Head & Neck Oncology: A multi-disciplinary team including board-certified surgeons, medical &
radiation oncologists, nutritionists and rehabilitation specialists insure rapid recovery from complex,
life-saving surgical procedures and return to daily activities.
Pediatric Otolaryngology: Treating children has long been a priority at NYEE. Pediatric care ranges
from middle ear infection, tonsil and adenoid disease, and neck masses to complex sinus and airway
diseases.
Rhinology and Sinus Surgery: Internationally known specialists utilize minimally invasive techniques
to treat disorders from sinusitis to intra cranial tumors.
Thyroid Center: A comprehensive program to streamline the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid
diseases and cancers. A highly skilled team of surgeons, endocrinologists and radiologists manage
the patient’s care.
Voice & Swallowing Institute: Combining the expertise of physicians, speech pathologists and a voice
physiologist to diagnose and treat voice problems – not only for performing artists but also for teachers,
stockbrokers, receptionists, salespeople – anyone for whom voice is an important part of life.
Allergy and Immunology: Providing comprehensive care in all areas of allergy and immunology for
children and adults, including evaluation and treatment of environmental and food allergies, aspirin
and drug allergies, skin-related allergic conditions, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, asthma, and lung
function testing.
Sleep Center: NYEE’s Sleep Center is one of the largest in New York and has a six-bedroom suite
attended by a multidisciplinary team of physicians and trained sleep technicians who monitor and
collect sleep data from both adult and pediatric patients with sleeping disorders in order to offer the
best medical and surgical treatment options.
