Ornamental Annual Grasses – Package 1 Sudan Grass If you want to be amazed by an annual grass this one will do it. Planted in late May or early June, Sudan Grass will reach heights of 5 to 8 feet (1 ½ to 2 ½ meters) by mid August! Large tasselled seed heads and an abundance of lengthy foliage will gently sway and rustle in the lightest of breezes. Extremely drought tolerant grass makes this a good choice in very hot locations of your yard or patio. Good Xeriscape option. Plant 2 to 3 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 30 square feet (2-¾ square meters) Foxtail Millet This is a truly beautiful grass, by mid summer it reaches 4 to 5 feet (1 to 1.5 meters) in height. Thick rich foliage and large droopy foxtail style seed heads make this a stunning addition to your containers or beds. In late summer or early fall foliage takes on a crimson colour to ad to its bold appearance. Use this as a centre piece with brightly flowering (red to yellow) plants that will reach 2 to 3 feet tall (1 meter). Plant 3 to 4 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 25 square feet. Copper Wheat This is a strong stemmed grass that will stand through fall and winter making it a great 3 season grass. Copper Wheat starts out the summer with deep rich green foliage and gradually turns to a copper colour by fall when its plump bearded seed heads will attract birds to your home! Excellent grass for containers or landscaping; when planting containers try devoting an entire container to one variety of grass, mix coloured containers with companion plants rather than mixing companion plants within one container. Plant 6 to 8 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 15 square feet (1 square meter). Grows to 3 feet (1 meter) in height. Ornamental Annual Grasses – Package 2 Flax Delicate stems are covered with light blue flowers which in turn produce small bobbles when the smokey blue petals fall. Flax will continually flower up to a killing frost, and will reach a height of 2 feet. Excellent fall and winter interest, cut and dries beautifully as well. (½ meter) Plant 10 to 12 seeds per square foot. Package will cover approximately 9 square feet (¾ square meter) Grows to 2 to 3 feet (½ to 1 Meter) in height. Starburst Millet Imagine a grassy version of Babies Breath. This grass has extremely delicate, loose panicle seed heads that are very soft to the touch. Plant in containers or beds, use with flowering companion plants that will reach 1 to 2 feet (½ meter) in height. The Ornamental Flax that accompanies this grass makes a great companion plant! Plant 3 to 4 seeds per square foot. Each Package will cover approximately 25 square feet. (2 ¼ square meters) Grows to 3 feet (1 meter) in height. Black Bearded Wheat Is just that; in the late summer or early fall the beards will turn black and out line the whitish seed heads. This delicate looking grass starts off with light almost translucent green foliage and as it ripens it turns white with black beards. It is often used in fresh cut arrangements when it is green and dried arrangements or wheat weaving when it has ripened. Strong stems make this a great fall and winter interest grass. Plant 6 to 8 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 15 square feet (1 square meter). Grows to 3 to . 4 feet (1 to 1-¼ meters) in height Ornamental Annual Grasses – Package 3 Safflower While this is not technically a grass, Safflower is a very ornamental. Multiple branches are covered with broad leaves and bright orange, red or yellow stringy looking flowers. Safflower is a strong stemmed plant that will stand through the winter; it has prickly leaves and is more predator resistant. It makes a great companion plant to the neighbouring grasses in this package. Plant 2 to 3 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 30 square feet (2 ¼ square meters) Grows to 2 to 3 feet (½ to 1 Meter) in height. Oat Grass Thick Deep green foliage and interesting open panicle seed heads that resemble split bells. Oat grass is a hardy grass that can with stand frosty spring mornings. Oat Grass will attract birds to your gardens, and when the birds have eaten their feast the empty seed heads will glow in the late summer/ autumn light! Plant with dark coloured flowering companion plants such as Bee Balm that will reach heights of 1 ½ to 2 feet (½ meter). Plant 4 to 5 seeds per square foot. Each Package will cover approximately 25 square feet. (2 ¼ square meters) Grows to 3 feet (1 meter) in height. Canary Grass Extremely fine stems support small variegated cone shaped seed heads over plenty of light green foliage. Very attractive and versatile grass, great for containers and landscaping that will last well into winter. (Three season gardening and enjoyment) Plant 6 to 8 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 15 square feet (1 square meter). Grows to 3 feet (1 meter) in height. Ornamental Annual Grasses – Package 4 Mock Rush An extremely drought tolerant grass, thick foliage and long strong seed heads that look very much like a bulrush. Give your containers or dry creek beds a water feature look without using water! An excellent Xeriscape grass that stand through the entire winter, all season enjoyment. Plant 2 to 3 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 30 square feet (2 ¼ square meters) Grows to 3 feet (1 meter) in height. Millet Cabernet Stunning wine coloured grass, loads of thick foliage and droopy rooster tail seed heads. Sways and rustles in the breezes, this is truly a stand out grass. The birds will love you and you will love this grass. Plant 3 to 4 seeds per square foot. Each Package will cover approximately 25 square feet. (2 ¼ square meters) Grows to 3 feet (1 meter) in height. Teal Wheat Grass The colour says it all, a turquoise coloured grass that goes anywhere with anything! Thick foliage, strong stemmed grass with long slender bearded seed heads. Stands through winter and attracts birds! Plant 5 to 6 seeds per square foot. Each package will cover approximately 20 square feet (1 square meter).
