Introduction to Hazardous Chemical Substances Management Practices What is the purpose of this course? The purpose of this training module is to provide the learner with a high level overview of hazardous chemical substances (HCS) management practices in the workplace. Course Outcomes: This module will provide the learner with the necessary information to enable them to understand the principles of hazardous chemical substances (HCS) management by: • Developing an overview of hazardous chemical substances (HCS); • Reviewing and understanding the legal obligations imposed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and hazardous chemical substances (HCS) regulations; • Understanding the importance of managing hazardous chemical substances (HCS) in relation to health, safety and the environmental requirements in the work place. Course Format Duration 1 Day Environment Classroom training conducted at the client’s venue (In-house) or as a public course. Please note that a minimum of 10 delegates is required to run an in-house course. Learning material (supplied by LexisNexis) Student manual; All course material is provided in English. Training can be presented in other languages based on request. Assessments A written evaluation is conducted at the end of the course. A pass mark of 75% is required. Who should attend? • • Persons exposed to HCS in the workplace; Individuals with responsibility for managing HCS in the work place. Prerequisites OHS Act and Legal Responsibility & Accountability.
