Thecourse,takingintoaccountIAEAandIOMPrecommendations,isorganisedintwoyearsofactivities:

AftertheMaster,therecommendationistofollowother1-2yearsofClinicalTraininginordertoberecognised
asClinicallyQualifiedMedicalPhysicist(CQMP)oradifferentpathaccordingtotherequirementsofthe
competentauthoritiesintheCountry.TheCertification/RegistrationasClinicallyQualifiedMedicalPhysicist
(CQMP)hastofollowexistingStateregistrationrules.IAEAandIOMParerecommendingthatthecompetences
havetobemaintainedwithaCPD(ContinuousProfessionalDevelopment)programme.

Theacademiceducationofthefirstyeariscoveringalltherelevantspecialtiesofmedicalphysicstoprepare
thestudenttoenterinaformalclinicalmedicalphysicsresidency(secondyear).Itwillalsoprovidethestudent
withthebasicknowledgeneededtoembarkonacareerintheregulatory,industry,metrology,researchand
developmentorinnovationthroughresearchsectors,forinstance.
Themajoroutcomeoftheacademicprogrammewouldbetoprovidestudentswithathoroughgroundingin
thephysiologicalbasis,analyticalmethodsandfundamentalaspectsofmedicalphysicsandinstilanattitudeof
integrity,professionalism,critical-thinkingandscientificrigor.
Teachingisprovidedbothbyfulltimeacademicstaffandbyclinicalmedicalphysicistsandotherhealthcare
professionals,likeradiobiologists,cliniciansandregulators.
