‫• الحمد هلل القائل ‪:‬‬
• Dear brothers, may the blessings of
Allah be upon you.
• Let us have taqwa to Allah SWT with
true taqwa. Hopefully the belief and
taqwa makes us thankful servants
who Allah SWT.
• Allah says in surah al-Nisaa verse 59:
• Which means:
• O you who have believed, obey Allah
and obey the Messenger and those
in authority among you. And if you
disagree over anything, refer it to
Allah and the Messenger, if you
should believe in Allah and the Last
Day. That is the best [way] and best
in result.
• Dear brothers,
• Year after year, we went through the
New Year. The more we went
through it, the more we are getting
older.
• Actually we as Muslims are very
fortunate because we have a Hijrah
New Year which has a very special
history.
• History that contain different form
of lessons and examples that we can
follow.
• The question is whether the event
of Hijrah is really an example that
we follow, or it is just another story,
or it is a story that we ourselves
ignore.
• These are the questions that we
need to ask ourselves, what are the
lessons or examples of Hijrah that
we implement in our daily lives.
• The word Hijrah means to separate
or migrate from one place to
another. In other usage, migration is
also associated with a change in
attitude and behavior.
• In this case, Allah recommends
Muslims to migrate towards
stronger and steady faith.
• Among the behavior migration is as
Allah says in verse 29 of Surah Fatir
recited at the beginning of the
sermon:
• Which means:
• Indeed, those who recite the Book of
Allah and establish prayer and
spend [in His cause] out of what We
have provided them, secretly and
publicly, [can] expect a profit that
will never perish.
• In this verse Allah states that we
must read the Quran every day,
because the Quran is the divine
guide for Muslims.
• In addition, we perform the five
daily prayers. From the favors and
wealth given to us, we fulfill the
obligatory zakat, and after
discharging the rights of family
members, we donate for the benefit
of Muslims, whether in endowment,
grants, will etc.
• People who perform these three
things are the people who will profit
from doing business with Allah.
• Dear brothers,
• The success of Rasulullah shallallahu
‘alaihi wa sallam in his dakwah in
Mecca is in building a strong and
steady faith among the companions.
• This strong upbringing resulted in
the strong faith of the companions
no matter what the situation is, be it
being tortured by the pagans, or
during the successful Islamic state in
Medina, the companions stand firm
by their faith.
• This is the attitude that we as
Muslims should have today.
• Ask ourselves, is our faith really firm
and sound? Do we know Allah with
a true knowledge and
understanding?
• Do we really understand the
concept of prophet hood? Do we
really believe in the paradise, hell,
sin or reward in the hereafter?
• If we are weak in our faith, we will
be easily influenced by other
cultures, which is contrary to Islam.
• We will be easily influenced by
changes in environment and time,
whereas a strong and true faith is
our main fortress in facing any
attempts to destroy Islam.
• Remember, the enemy of Islam is
always waiting to defeat us.
Remember Allah's message in Surah
al-Baqarah verse 120:
• Which means:
• And never will the Jews or the
Christians approve of you until you
follow their religion. Say, "Indeed,
the guidance of Allah is the [only]
guidance." If you were to follow
their desires after what has come to
you of knowledge, you would have
against Allah no protector or helper.
• Dear brothers,
• In this New Year, we have to learn
and emulate the Hijrah. Allah will
never help us if we do not help
defend His religion.
• The migration that we need to do
today is migration of attitudes and
behavior towards betterment.
• We as Muslims should be proud
that we belong to this religion.
Don’t let our actions do things that
may undermine the status of Islam.
• Let us not only be proud of our
Muslim name, but let us reflect our
behavior as Muslims.
• Similarly, we do not only wear attire
that symbolizes Islam, but at the
same time our actions are far from
true Islamic practice.
• Similarly, when we are reprimanded
and advised, we should be open
mind, not bouncy, furious and
blame others. As Muslims, we must
be patient in our daily practices.
‫‪• Advising among Muslims is a‬‬
‫‪practice, as the Prophet shallallahu‬‬
‫‪‘alaihi wa sallam says:‬‬
• The Deen (religion) is naseehah
(advice/sincerity)’. We said ‘To
whom?’ He said ‘To Allah and His
Book, and His Messenger, and to the
leaders of the Muslims and their
common folk.
• Narrated by Imam Muslim
• Dear brothers,
• Therefore, the actual migration
starts with ourselves. If we are weak
in faith, learn the true faith of Ahlus
Sunnah Wal Jamaah.
• If our daily five-time prayers,
charity, fasting are slacking, then
hasten to correct it.
• Similarly if our moral and dealing
with others are not line with the
Islamic practices, change
immediately.
• No one else can change us if we do
not change ourselves. Educate
yourself in reading the Quran every
day, pray and repent for these are
the sunnah of the Prophet that
should practice by all of us.
• There was certainly in their stories a
lesson for those of understanding.
Never was the Qur'an a narration
invented, but a confirmation of
what was before it and a detailed
explanation of all things and
guidance and mercy for a people
who believe.
• Surah Yusuf verse 111.
