Draw Me ..... Cells!
Animal Cell
Follow these directions carefully to create a drawing of a plant cell. Be sure to write the word that
matches each definition on the blank line. After drawing your cell, label each organelle in your
diagram.
1. Draw a large circle in the box above. This represents the represents the organelle that controls what
comes into and out a cell. Lightly shade it red.
2. Near the center of the circle draw a circle about 1 inch in diameter. Lightly shade it orange. This circle
is the organelle that contains DNA, which controls the functions of the cell.
3. Inside of the circle that you just drew, draw 3 small boxes. These boxes represent the tiny strands that
contain the instructions for directing a cell's functions. Color them red.
4. Somewhere in the cell draw 2 small ovals. These represent the organelle that uses chemicals to break
down food and worn out cell parts. Shade them purple.
5. Somewhere in the cell draw 1 large oval. This represents the organelle that stores food, water, wastes
and other materials. Color it blue.
6. Shade the rest of the inside of the cell yellow. This represents the gel-like part of the cell that
organelles are found.

1. Draw the rigid outer layer of a plant cell in the shape of a rectangle. Highlight it in green.

Inside of the rectangle, draw another rectangle that represents the organelle that controls what comes
into and out a cell. Lightly shade it purple.

Somewhere in the cell draw 10 small bean shaped items. These objects represent the organelle that
captures energy from the sunlight and use it to produce food. Color each one green.
