Clinical Workshops
Digital Health
Be ahead of the e-Health game
Presentation Summary
To make informed decisions about their health, patients need to access, understand, appraise and
apply health information. It’s now seen as part of a health professional’s role to guide patients towards
reliable sources of information that meet these expectations. Outside the clinic, patients are
increasingly using digital health technology and e-health applications to find medical
information. These tools have the potential to vastly improve patient health literacy and engagement
by making health information easy to access and interactive. This is particularly important in rural and
remote communities where the access to health resources is limited.

This presentation will outline current and future e-Health functionality in Best Practice, with a focus on

Meeting Accreditation Standards
Explaining how the standards apply
when using Bp
Mastering Maintenance
Maximising Bp every day from an IT
perspective
The RACGP sets out accreditation standards designed to enable practices to participate in the
Australian Government's Practice Incentives Program, which aims to encourage continuing
improvements in general practice through financial incentives to support quality care, and
improving access and health outcomes for patients.
This session aims to provide Best Practice users with the education, assistance and resources needed
to demonstrate compliance with the RACGP standards for general practices for the purposes of
achieving accreditation. As a software package, Best Practice provides users with a stable, flexible,
and feature rich environment upon which the accreditation standards can be met. This practice
workshop will look at how Best Practice Software can be used to meet the various criteria required to
pass an accreditation audit.
The RACGP Computer and Information Security Standards (CISS) provide guidance for practices in
developing systems and policy to support computer back up processes, business continuity and
disaster recovery plans, malware and virus protection and the use of mobile electronic devices.
Computer and information security in general practice is not optional; it is an essential professional
and legal requirement for using computer systems in the delivery of quality healthcare. It’s important
for all practice staff to understand that a secure computer and information management system is
essential for the necessary protection of business and clinical information and is therefore critical to
the provision of safe, high-quality healthcare and the efficient running of the general practice.

Managing Pathology workflows across
Bp Premier
With many Management reports available it is often difficult to find the one you need. This workshop
is intended for practice staff who organise practice finances such as banking, staff pay runs,
account reconciliation and more. We will explain the various report types available to help practice
staff identify their needs as well as explaining how adjustments, deposits and cancellations all
impact on your reporting requirements.
Understanding your patient population is a great way to introduce new patient initiatives, improve
patient care and even generate additional revenue for your business. This workshop will cover
everything from the coding of diagnoses, cleaning up your database, searching the Bp Premier
database, using the Diabetes Cycle of Care module and the Diabetes Register, adding
reminders\actions and creating care plans and health assessments.
If you’re already familiar with the most popular and frequently used functions within Bp Premier, but
would like to know more about customising and using templates, don’t miss this advanced user
lesson. We’ll take you through customising existing templates, or even help you create your own in
the word processor using both the provided template fields and your own custom fields.
Workflows are essential for the smooth and efficient day to day running of your practice. Your
effective use of techniques relating to e-Health (Digital Health), shared electronic records, and their
associated services assist in enhancing patient outcomes and minimising risk, especially those
relating to recalls and follow-ups. The review of patient results, reports and their associated actions
should be completed in a timely manner, meaning a practice needs to have a system in place
where each team member knows – and accepts – their responsibility.
With a focus on clinical governance this workshop will explore the methodology behind creating an
effective and functional results follow-up system, including how to efficiently record all related
patient contact and provide fully documented workflows for your team to follow.

While Bp Premier is a great practice tool designed to help enhance your daily workflow, the data
that’s entered into each patient record is more than just words and numbers on your screen.
Common practice tools like PENCAT and CDMNet gather and use the data you’ve entered into your
patient records to assist you with business analytics through to patient care and treatment. This
hands-on PC interactive workshop will provide you with a few working examples on how you can
query your patient database to extract and manage the information your team requires to help you
take your business to the next level.
