LYT’s Young Touring Company is made up of 5 young theatre makers,
aged 16-24, who have come together to create and tour a new play.
Supported by a professional production team and a professional actor,
they have taken on roles as actors and production assistants to devise
the play you will see tonight. Everything you see in Divided By - the
story, dialogue and design - comes from them.
They are currently
touring the play to schools and youth settings across Lewisham.

Forum Theatre is an interactive technique that involves the audience in
making better choices for the main character on stage. After the play
has finished, you will have a chance to talk to the characters, suggest
ways that they could handle their situation differently, and even come
up on stage to see if you can achieve a better outcome.
How Was the Play Created?
When creating the play, we used the theme of loss as a starting point.
We thought about what, who and where creates stress in young
people’s lives. Once we had created the initial play, we showed it to
LYT’s Junior Youth Theatre and Members’ Committee - a group of
young people who help make decisions for the company. They gave us
great feedback, came up with ideas of what could happen next in the
story and helped us create the end of the play.

projects are free to young people. We rely on the donations of funders
and individuals to make our work possible.
