Unit 5 Chromosomes & Cell Reproduction Text: Chapter 5.1-‐5.4, Chapter 6.1-‐6.2 (not 5.5, we did that already) Essential Questions: 1. What are the major stages of the cell cycle? 2. How do cells make new cells that are identical to themselves? 3. How do diploid cells make haploid cells? 4. WHY do diploid cells sometimes make haploid cells? 5. What happens when meiosis doesn’t divide pairs of homologous chromosomes evenly? Learning Goals: 1. Explain the functional relationship between DNA and chromosomes and their role in inheritance. 2.
