Me, Myself, I, Chlorine
BY: Ethan. B P:2
It started in a lab in Sweden. Chlorine was first produced by Carl Wilhelm
Scheele, a Swedish
chemist, when he
combined the mineral
pyrolusite (MnO2) with
hydrochloric acid (HCl) in
1774. That is how i was
born. (Beautiful right?) MY
family is called the halogen family. I was named after the
greek word for greenish yellowish witch is chloros. I’m a
guy who likes to attach to thing and never let go. Its all
because I'm missing something that I really want a
electron. You see I only have 17 but I think 18 would
really suit me better. So i just attach to my fellow
elements to get what I want. Despite my constant
attaching to other elements I am actually very useful. I could be found in many
things but with another element attached to me. I can be found in bleach, paint
thinner and pool cleaner just to name a few. You see i’m actually very popular
around the united states of america. I’m in the top 10 elements produced in
america. I’m not a strong guy that why I’m a gas at room temp and have a
melting point of -150.7°F -101.5°C 171.6 K also a freezing point
of 239.1 K -29.27°F -34.04°C. As you can see I am not a strong
heavy guy. Don’t mess with me though I
have the power to kill a human in just
under 2 breaths. I’m also found on the
right side of the tableau know what that
means I’m a non metals. That means you
do not want to mess with me because I
have a whole gang of element ready to
rough you up.
