Math Courses Pre-Algebra 1 Credit 2 Semesters Content: In Pre-Algebra variables are introduced early and repeated frequently. The students review addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division for whole number and decimalsand fractions. They study number theory. They learn to solve equations algebraically. They learn about formulas for perimeter, area, volume, and divide with real numbers. They learn to graph in the coordinate plane. They also study statistics and probability and learn the basics of geometry. Algebra I 1 Credit 2 Semesters Content: This course is designed to develop a strong foundation in algebra by exploring and applying mathematical concepts. Each student will develop and refine the skills necessary to be successful in meeting challenges in the future, more advanced mathematics classes. Integrated Math 1 Credit 2 Semesters Prerequisites: Pre-Algebra or Algebra 1 Basic operations on all real numbers, including rational expressions as well as geometry topics will be covered. This course consists of application problems involving ratios, percents and proportions. Graphing techniques are used with statistics and probability. Algebra II 1 Credit 2 Semesters Prerequisites: Algebra I This advanced course consists of the study of quadratic functions and their graphs, matrices, logarithmic relations, and the simplification and graphing of rational functions. Geometry 1 Credit 2 Semesters Prerequisite: Algebra I This is a course in plane geometry with emphasis on special concepts, logic, angles and lines, special triangles, and proofs. Surface area and volume of all polyhedra will be covered. Trigonometry 1/2 Credit, 1 Semester Prerequisites: Algebra I and II, and Geometry This course is designed for the college bound student, especially those interested in mathematics and science. Angles and their trigonometric functions will be studied. The right triangle and circular definitions if the trigonometric equations will be solved. This class is extremely hard. Pre-Calculus 1/2 Credit, 1 Semester Prerequisites: Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Trigonometry. This class will prepare students for college-level calculus, limits, continued derivatives and integration. This class is even harder than the last one... College Algebra Prerequisites: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus ***This course is available for college credit This is an advanced algebra class which covers linear, quadratic, rational, logarithmic and exponential graphs and their functions. Students will preform all operations on these functions. Topics also include two- and threevariable systems, sequences, probability and conics. Hardest class available.
