Grading Rubrics: Composition, Participation, and Presentation Objective: To give students a general idea of what is expected in regards to participation, presentation and composition and allow individual students to take more personal responsibility of their overall learning and grade. Directions: Use these rubrics as a guideline to help you make decisions in regards to your daily learning and grade. *Specific requirements/detailed rubrics will be given for individual assignments and/or projects. Composition: Content/ Vocabulary Excelente: Varied vocabulary, variety of words including idiomatic usage, sophisticated language, organized and thorough development of topic. Esta bien: Vocabulary appropriate, topic is mostly organized and well developed. Bien: Vocabulary repetitive, somewhat organized and relevant to topic, but lacks detail. Necesita trabajo: Minimal vocabulary, inadequate development of topic. ¿De veras? Minimal to no vocabulary, not relevant or not enough to evaluate. Grammar Subject-­‐ verb agreement, Gender-­‐noun-­‐adjective agreement, syntax-­‐ word order, no flaws, use of correct verb tense and/or conjugation forms Grammar mostly correct, Subject-­‐ verb agreement, Gender-­‐noun-­‐adjective agreement, syntax-­‐ word order, minimal flaws, use of correct verb tense and/or conjugation forms Grammar/ vocabulary sometimes muddles meaning, Subject-­‐ verb agreement, Gender-­‐noun-­‐adjective agreement, syntax-­‐ word order, some flaws, use of correct verb tense and/or conjugation forms Grammar/vocabulary muddles meaning, subject-­‐verb and/or gender-­‐noun-­‐ adjective do not agree, numerous flaws, verb tense and/or conjugation forms are incorrect Incomprehensible Mechanics Spelling and other conventions are generally correct. (Punctuation, capitalization, spelling, paragraphing, and handwriting) Occasional errors of spelling and other conventions do not interfere with communication. Frequent errors of spelling and other conventions, meaning may be confused or obscured. Pervasive errors of spelling and other conventions, meaning is confused or obscured. Incomprehensible Participation/ Communication: Excelente: Student is present and on time every day, always participates daily without distracting others, does homework every day, speaks only Spanish in class to all, and always brings materials. Esta bien: Student is present every day (or excused absence), rarely tardy, participates often, speaks mostly Spanish in class to all, does homework every day, always brings necessary materials. Bien: Student is present every day (or excused absence), does not distract/disrupt others, usually has homework done, usually brings necessary materials, speaks both English and Spanish in class. Necesita trabajo: Student has frequent tardies and/or has unexcused absences, rarely or never participates in class, sometimes is off task or distracts others, speaks more English than Spanish, often does not have necessary materials. ¿De veras?: Student has poor attendance, does not engage or participate, rarely speaks Spanish in class, often does not have homework or necessary materials.
