Point – a precise location on a plane, represented by a dot. Line – a geometrical object that is straight, infinitely long and thin. Line Segment – part of a line. Volume – the amount of space in a 3D figure. Area – the amount of surface of a figure. Perimeter – the distance around a figure. Coordinates – an ordered pair of numbers that represent a point. Midpoint – a point that divides a segment into two equal parts. Space – the set of all points. Ray – a line which starts at a point and goes off in a particular direction to infinity. Plane – a flat surface that is infinitely large with zero thickness. Collinear – a set of points that lie in a straight line. Coplanar – points and lines on the same plane. Vertex – the common end point of two or more rays. Angle – two rays with a common endpoint. Parallel Lines – lines that lie in the same plane and never meet. Transversal – a line that intersects two coplanar lines in two points. Perpendicular Lines – lines that meet or cross at right angles. Right Angle – an angle whose measure is exactly 90˚. Acute Angle – an angle whose measure is less than 90˚. Obtuse Angle – an angle whose measure is greater than 90˚ and less than 180˚. Straight Angle – an angle whose measure is exactly 180˚, a straight line. Complementary Angles – two angles that add up to 90˚. Supplementary Angles – Two angles that ad up to 180˚. Adjacent Angles – two angles that share common side and a common vertex. Angle Bisector - a line which cuts an angle into two equal halves. Hypotenuse - The side opposite the right angle in a right-angled triangle Congruent Angles – angles that have the same measure. Radius – a straight line from the center to the circumference of a circle or sphere. Circumference – the perimeter of a circle. Diameter – the line through the center of a circle. Pi – the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Postulate – an accepted statement of fact.
