There are 6 levels of organization in Ecology
From largest to smallest….
• Biosphere: everywhere on earth life exists
• Biome: group of ecosystems that share similar climates
and organisms
• Ecosystem: A place where all organisms live together
with their physical environment
• Community: Different populations living in the same area
• Population: A group of individuals of the same species
that live in the same place
• Individual organism: a species is a group of similar
organisms that can breed an produce fertile offspring
Biotic vs. Abiotic
The Biological influences on an organism are called
BIOTIC factors. It is any living part of the environment in
which an organism might react
Physical Components of an ecosystem are called
ABIOTIC factors. Any non-living part of the environment.
