Cons • More expensive • Complex manufacturing sequence March 16 ICEC-ICMC 2016 Case Scenario 2 Straight Pipe Pros • Easy manufacturing • Follow the shape of the building Cons • Lateral bellow forces • It requires more space 7 Define Protected System Locate Relief devices Fail Scenarios Select relief device March 16 Acquire Data 50K/80K System – 0.2W/cm² Demaco common practice Design Code 4K System - 0.6 W/cm² (W. This type of transfer line is common for manufacturers of transfer line. • Straight transfer lines are more economical (30% less) than bended transfer lines. • Safety assessment- measures are necessary to protect the line from excessive pressure during Loss of Insulating Vacuum (LIV). • Safety valve locations in the 4K supply line and 4K suction line are critical (Safety Assessment – TL-NW) due to pressure loss in the TL. • Vacuum barriers / safety valves are viable options for protecting transfer lines against LIV. Demaco recommends use of vacuum barriers with a reduced number of safety valves.
