Virtual Virginia Economics and Personal Finance The Virginia Department of Education, with the generous support of the Virginia 529 College Savings Plan and the Virginia Bankers Association Education Foundation, has developed a comprehensive, cutting-edge, online program aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning for Economics and Personal Finance. This program supports school compliance with the new requirement that each student in Virginia complete an economics and personal finance course before graduation. The online course can be used as self-paced and auto-graded instruction with minimal teacher intervention or as a textbook replacement for teacher-led instruction. It includes cartoons, interactive graphics, and a myriad of interactions and assessments that enrich the learning experience and that provide re-teaching opportunities. A rich simulation environment also allows students to practice their newly acquired skills through characters that make economic decisions. The course is available to all Virginia schools and was developed using standard SCORM modules, which allow deployment through any compliant learning management system.
