Secretary – Inverness
We are seeking a Secretary to work as part of an
administration team at the Inverness office of Saffery
Champness, a top 20 firm of chartered accountants.
The role will comprise of general secretarial, typing and day
to day support team duties as well as assisting with reception
duties and providing cover in the absence of the Partners’
Secretary.
Previous experience in a similar role is essential, preferably
in a legal or professional services background. Candidates
should possess accurate typing skills and be able to
demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel &
PowerPoint.
The role
The role will be to work as part of an administration support
team of three within the Inverness office and the role will
comprise of general secretarial, reception and support team
duties.
The jobholder will be responsible for providing an efficient
secretarial and administrative support to partners and
managers in order to ensure the business needs of the
firm are met and the office runs smoothly. The workload
will consist of word processing ensuring correspondence
is accurate and in Corporate Image, and general day to
day office duties such as filing and maintaining stationery
supplies.
The role also entails providing administration support to the
Tax team, preparing client correspondence, assisting with
compliance administration in relation to Engagement Letters,
Money Laundering, invoicing and maintaining departmental
registers.
The above duties and responsibilities are not intended to be
exhaustive and may be extended. The jobholder may also be
required to undertake other duties and responsibilities that
may assist with the smooth running of the office or with the
efficiency or commitments of fee-earners.
The office hours are 9.15am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday.
The individual
The ideal candidate will have excellent typing skills, with a
minimum typing speed of 65 wpm.
The successful applicant will be organised, and have the
ability to prioritise their workload and pay good attention
to detail. Excellent communication skills and a very good
telephone manner is a must, along experience of dealing with
sensitive and confidential material. Applicants should also
have a positive attitude both generally and when greeting
visitors to the office.

motivated, committed and flexible with the ability to meet
deadlines. A natural team player is essential, with a positive
and enthusiastic attitude.
The office
Our team of accountants in Inverness advise clients involved
in many areas of the Highland economy and in many instances
we provide a tailor-made service for all aspects of their
connected affairs - whether personal, family and business.
Role reports to
Partners, Senior Managers and Managers as appropriate.
The jobholder is also required to assist with reception duties;
answering incoming phone calls and either transferring calls
or dealing with queries, where appropriate screen incoming
calls. In addition you will assist with event organization and
running of front of house for client meetings etc. Finally
the jobholder will be required to cover for the Partners’
Secretary in their absence.
