Clubs and Organizations
2015—2016
 ΣAΣ—Sigma Alpha Sigma is an RCHS designed Student-led Academic Support
organization founded on the principle that students can lead academic excellence in
their school by creating a culture of positive peer pressure providing support to
students who desire to be more academically successful. Members of the
organization are admitted and maintain membership based on exemplary grades and
attendance, but they also make the most of themselves by working together to change
the culture of the community to value academics. The members of ƩAƩ coordinate
and man many of the support structures provided on campus. Sponsors: Ms.
McCallister, Mr. Lentz, Mr. Bishop, Ms. Desanti, Mr. Franklin, and Coach Wade.
 Anime Club—We welcome anyone interested in all forms of Anime, Manga,
Japanese animation, Cosplay, and more. New this year—learning to draw anime,
beginner to advanced, our star students will be teaching small groups to draw the
characters you love. Sponsors: Ms. Smith
 Art Club—Art Club is open to all current RCHS students. Art club has several
community projects as well as individual opportunities for your own work! It will
meet weekly in 2-124. Sponsor: Mr. Wortham & Ms. Smith.
 A-Team—The Academic Team is a national high school competition. As many as
six teams may compete against each other in one competition. It is a slow-paced
tournament in which players are asked questions from the areas of mathematics,
science, language arts, social studies, the fine arts, foreign language (French and
Spanish) and technology. The season consists of five practice sessions beginning in
September and will culminate in the county championship in February. All
competitions and practices are held after school on Tuesdays. Sponsor: Mrs.
Williams & Ms. Malcolm
 FBLA—Future Business Leaders of America is a professional organization that
equips students to take their place in the business world and lead the next
generation in to a successful future. FBLA club members participate in community
service projects that focus on bettering their local community. They compete in a
variety of areas to demonstrate their competence and represent the school at District
and State leadership conferences. To participate, students must be in or previously
taken a high school business class and earned credit for the class. Sponsor: Mrs. Ford
 FFA—The FFA is the agricultural student organization designed to build leadership
and citizenship skills. It gives every student an opportunity to succeed through
conventions, competitions, leadership positions, and scholarships. Some specific
competitive areas include, but are not limited to: livestock, mechanics, forestry, citrus,
public speaking, and horticulture. Sponsors: Mr. Lyon and Ms. Temples
 HOSA--HOSA is a national student organization to enhance the delivery of
compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill
and leadership development of all health science technology education students,
therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community. Sponsor:
Mrs. Rowles and Mrs. Parrish
 International Thespian Society—Thespian Society is an international organization
that connects young actors and stage technicians together to further develop talents in
the theatre arts. All students are welcome to join the program, and after participating
in a certain number of live performances, are eligible to be inducted into the
international charter. Students participate in improvisation techniques, character
building, attend live theatrical performances, host guest speakers in the field, and help
produce RCHS theatrical productions. Drama club also plans to participate in various
regional acting competitions during the school year. Advisor: Mr. Wilson

 JROTC—The purpose of Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps is to instill in students
in United States secondary educational institutions the value of citizenship, service to the
United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. Students can take
classes during the day, but JROTC also offers many after school opportunities for
students such as raiders (an athletic competition team), drill (colorguard and precision
ceremony), and rifle (marksman training with air rifles) teams that compete on a local
and state level, JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl teams (teams compete in
leadership and academics at the national level) and CyberPatriot (a network defense team
that competes against schools around the globe). Sponsors: MAJ Miles, 1SG Durocher,
1SG Baumer, 1SG Kelley and MSG Perez.
 Key Club—Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its
members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership.
Key Club works on developing leadership skills in its members by volunteering in school
and throughout the community. At school, the students head up the recycling program
and outside of school, students volunteer at Give Kids the World, and other local
organizations. The club meets on weekly basis. Sponsor: Mr. Frost
 National Art Honor Society—The Ridge Chapter of Honor Society for the Visual
Arts is open to qualifying members who meet, maintain and surpass the NHS dues,
standards and expectations. Members will have opportunities to apply for competitive
national scholarships and attend visual arts events. Sponsors: Mr. Wortham and Ms.
Smith
 NHS-- The National Honor Society is the nation’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious
organization. It is comprised of students who have demonstrated excellence in
Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Members of NHS are recognized not
only for their accomplishments but are also challenged to develop further involvement in
school activities and community service. In previous years they have helped with Relay
for Life, College Fair Night, and Drive One 4 UR School. The National Honor Society
also sponsors monthly campus clean-ups. Sponsor: Mrs. Arnold
 Spanish Club—The Spanish club is designed for students who have taken Spanish or are
Spanish speakers. The club meets once a week after school and discusses fundraising,
community service, cultural activities, and afterschool tutoring. Sponsor: Ms.Quiñones
and Ms. Saez
 Student Government—Student Officers are elected by their peers to work with the
school administration on achieving the goals of RCHS. There are Student Body
President, Vice President, and Secretary positions held by seniors, and additional Officer
positions for all grades. Student Government works to provide a voice of the students to
share with the administration and hosts many activities throughout the year, such as
Homecoming, Prom, and other dances and school functions. Student Government officers
meet 2-3 times a month. Sponsor: Mrs. James and Mr. Frost
 Tri-M—The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for
middle/junior high and high school students and is by invitation only. It is designed to
recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their
accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel in music
and leadership. Sponsor: Mr Balach
 TSA--The Technology Student Association is the only student organization devoted
exclusively to the needs of students interested in technology. Open to students enrolled in
or who have completed technology education courses, TSA’s membership includes over
150,000 middle and high school students in 2,000 schools spanning 48 states. TSA is
supported by educators, parents and business leaders who believe in the need for a
technologically literate society. Members learn through exciting competitive events,
leadership opportunities and much more. The diversity of activities makes TSA a positive
experience for every student. From engineers to business managers, TSA alumni credit
the organization with a positive influence on their lives. Sponsor: Mr. Schnoor
