PowerPoint presentation on a Spanish-speaking country
Objective:
I can investigate the Spanish-speaking countries of Central America, South America or the
Caribbean.
Standards:

Making Connections through Language
You will create a PowerPoint presentation on a Spanish-speaking country. You will need to have a minimum
of 15 slides. You can use pictures and graphics. You can put pictures/graphics and words on the same slide,
but do not write all your information on the slides! Use the slide as an outline for us to follow while you present.
(We all can read)
Requirements:
(1) “title page” slide with introduction – why did you chose your country
(2) a picture of the country’s flag with a description of the colors/symbols
(3) map of the country
(4) information about the different ethnic groups. (It could be included on the map or be a separate slide)
(5) name of the currency and the current exchange rate with date listed on slide (www.xe.com)
(6) current leader and their background (education, previous jobs, etc)
(7) source page slide (use the citation machine on the (www.easybib.com) .
(8) Minimum of 5 sources There are some great books on specific countries also that would be helpful – ask
Mrs. Dawson or Ms. Calloway (if you use them make sure to put them on reference slide)
DO NOT JUST COPY AND PASTE YOUR INFORMATION! You need to be able to answer questions
about your country so you need to READ and THINK about your information, not just copy and paste it.
You also must pick 8 of the following categories:
1. Relations with the USA – do we give them monetary aid, help them fight terrorism/drugs, are there
embargos against the country
2. Food – famous dishes, recipes, where it’s from (region of the country),
3. Famous people – athletes, writers, singers, artists, etc.
4. Dances – regional, national, or famous dances from the country
5. Music – what is popular, or what is country known for
6. Daily life – shopping, (grocery and/or clothes), things people do
7. Dating – what is the traditional way dating takes place
8. Driving – what age, cost of license, etc.
9. School/education – ages, classes, building, school day, homework, class size
10. Literature
11. Art
12. Famous cities w/in country – describe, use pictures?
13. Famous geographical places within country – mountains, volcanoes, waterfalls, rivers, etc. and their
effect on the country (tourism, industry, etc.)
14. Holiday traditions
15. Religion
16. Transportation – personal and public
17. Festivals/holidays/days of celebration – when, why, and how (have some info to tell us about)
18. Economy
19. Industry
20. Current events- within last year
21. Sports
22. Type of government
23. Crime & punishments
24. Interesting facts or tidbits we may enjoy hearing about
