Bob Norman Richard A. St. Jean, Jr., CLF, General Agent, is CEO and Managing Partner of Commonwealth Financial Group. He assumed leadership of the firm in May of 2005. Prior to Commonwealth Financial Group, Rick spent a decade heading the Long Island Agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). He brought it from the bottom 10 percent of MassMutual agencies to among the top 5 percent. Rick was able to recruit and train his successor in Long Island and the agency continues to thrive. Under Rick’s leadership, Commonwealth Financial Group has also gone through a significant transition and now ranks as one of the highest producing life and disability income insurance agencies within MassMutual. Commonwealth Financial Group currently has over 45,000 clients1 with over $3.5 billion in policy and account values2, and over $10.0 billion in Life Insurance coverage in force3. With its hub in Boston, the firm works across Eastern and Southeastern Massachusetts, including Cape Cod. Rick graduated from Fordham University in New York and started out in Financial Services as a producer, developing a very successful private practice. As his practice grew, Rick took on the challenge of sales management by helping others around him achieve similar levels of success. 1 An He has been recognized by both Connecticut Mutual and MassMutual, receiving the prestigious President’s Honorary Award, Management Council and Crystal Achievement awards as well as the Chairman’s Trophy award. The General Agents and Managers Association (GAMA) repeatedly recognizes him with their National Sales Management Awards. Rick is a past president of both Rotary International and GAMA. Rick was President of the MassMutual General Agent’s Association, and has also served on the boards of both NAIFA and GAMA. Rick has been a featured guest speaker, both inside and outside of the industry, on entrepreneurial topics including: Strategic Business Planning, Taking your Practice to the Next Level, Recruiting to a Higher Profile and Marketing to a Better Client.
