Will has performed with the talented artists of the Suitcase Shakespeare Company, and Midsommer Flight in Chicago. Previous other work includes productions of Hamlet, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, and Les Laisons Dangereuse at American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisonsin. Will received his BFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University. Sara Copeland This is Sara’s first show since graduating from Northern Illinois University’s acting program and she is excited to work and grow with such a talented group of artists. Credits at NIU include A Bright Room Called Day, Laundry and Bourbon, Look Homeward Angel, Antigone, and The Comedy of Errors. She interned for Organic Theater Company in 2014 and just moved to Chicago from her hometown in Johnsburg, Illinois. She also studied abroad in Russia at the Moscow Art Theater School. Sara is represented by Gray Talent Group. Jim Heatherly Jim is excited to be making his debut with Organic Theater as part of this production of The Good Doctor. Among 60+ productions over the past sixteen years, Jim’s Chicago credits Include The Best Man and Heroes (Remy Bumppo),Company and Bleacher Bums (Brightside Theatre), Cabaret (The Hypocrites), Season’s Greetings (Northlight Theatre), Miracle on 34th Street, Pal Joey and Mack & Mabel (Porchlight Music Theatre), State of the Union and Failsafe (Strawdog Theatre), Guys and Dolls, Cabaret and Annie Get Your Gun (Light Opera Works), The Nutcracker (House Theater), and Moon Over Buffalo (JPAC Theatre). Jim’s TV credits include CHICAGO PD, SIRENS, CRISIS and BOSS. Annamae, I found the muse! Bethany Mangum Bethany is thrilled to be making her Chicago debut with Organic Theatre Company! She recently graduated with her MFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University and holds a BFA in Acting from California State University, Fullerton. Over the last year, she was fortunate enough to travel and study both in Turkey and at the Moscow Art Theatre School. Some favorite roles include: Lady Fulbank in The Lucky Chance, Masha in The Three Sisters, Bessie in Awake and Sing!, Lorraine in A Lie of the Mind, Eliza Gant in Look Homeward, Angel, and Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire. Amy Powell, native resident of Illinois, moved to Chicago in 2013. Starting out as an intern with Organic, she is excited to make her debut as a company member in Out of the Blue. Other Organic credits include Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol as the Bogle, The Diviners as Darlene, Tartuffe as Marianne, as well as two original one act plays The Haunter of the Dark and Garbot. Amy holds a BFA in acting from Northern Illinois University and has also studied at the Moscow Art Theater School. In her spare time she enjoys dabbling in photography and filmmaking. 2016 Summer Rep Season 3 CAST BIOGR APHIES c o n t. Emily Rieder Emily is thrilled to be making her Organic Theater Co. debut. She recently received her MFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University. Favorite past roles include Brooke in Noises Off!, Ruth in Blithe Spirit, Andromache in Trojan Women, Marie in Woyzeck and Beth in A Lie of the Mind. She received her BFA in Acting from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Matthew Romriell Matt is excited to be joining Organic for his first Chicago show. Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, he received his MFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University. Regional credits include Les Miserables, The Philadelphia Story, and Man of La Mancha. Other favorites include Charles in Blithe Spirit, Claudio in Measure for Measure, Nick in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Flote in Red Noses, Jake in A Lie of the Mind and Berger in Hair. In Utah, he was also fortunate to perform his verbatim play, Schism, at Salt Lake Acting Company. Jessica Rzucidlo Jessica is very excited to be making her Chicago debut with Organic Theater Company. A New Jersey native, she recently graduated from Northern Illinois University with her MFA in acting. She has had the privilege to study at the London Dramatic Academy and the Moscow Art Theatre School. Recent/ favorite credits include: Awake and Sing, Threepenny Opera, The Love Talker and Three Sisters. Jessica is very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this production. 4 Organic Theater Company Laura Sturm Laura teaches acting and voice/movement at Act One Studios, the Actors’ Center, North Central College, and Oakton Community College. Laura has been seen in Chicago in a number of roles including Blanche in Streetcar, Gertrude in Hamlet (Polarity Ensemble Theatre), Ana in The Clean House (Bluebird Arts), Charity Barnum in Barnum (Quest Ensemble Theatre), Mrs. Hardcastle in She Stoops to Conquer (Signal Ensemble Theatre), and Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Polarity). Other favorite roles include Imogen in Cymbeline, the title role in Evita, and Anna in Burn This. Additionally, Laura has worked with such theatres as MaryArrchie, Remy Bumppo, Victory Gardens, Boho, Stage Left, Northlight, Provision, Raven, Theo Ubique. Directing credits include a world premiere of the dark sci-fi comedy Ephemera, Sheridan’s 18th century comedy of manners, The Rivals, and the original zoo musical, Tuxedo Love. Laura is currently an Adjunct Faculty member at Oakton, teaches her own movement class at the Athenaeum on Saturday mornings. Julane Sullivan Julane is honored to be working with the Organic Theatre Company. Most recently she was seen as Ana in Sarah Ruhl’s The Clean House at Steel Beam Theatre. Notable acting credits include: Peg in The Outgoing Tide (VTG), Midlife, the Crisis Musical (Beloit TheatreWorks), Doris in Same Time, Next Year , Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (Independent Players), The Witch in Into The Woods and all the female supporting characters in Scrambled Eggs (Evergreen Theatre Ensemble). Julane is the founder and director of Shakespeare at the Centre where she has directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night. When not working on the stage, she is a costume designer and owner of All Dressed Up Costume in Batavia, IL. Julane is currently President of the Batavia Arts Council. Bryan James Wakefield Bryan joined Organic as a company member in 2007 and has appeared in Picasso at the Lapin Agile,Tartuffe, Bartleby the Scrivener, Bobby Gould in Hell, Macbeth, Play Strindberg, The Police, The Secret Agent, andTheophilus North. Chicago credits include: Twelfth Night and Cyrano de Bergerac(Oak Park Festival Theater); You Can’t Take it With You (Village Players); The Devils Arithmetic – TYA (Apple Tree Theatre);Character Sheet (Chicago ScriptWorks). Regional credits include Moscow Art Theatre, Virginia Permiere Theatre and Virginia Musical Theatre. Bryan is also an actor/combatant with the Society of the American Fight Directors and a trained exotic bird handler from the California-based Carvalho’s Friends of a Feather. He holds an MFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University and a Certificate of Acting from the Moscow Art Theater School Adam Zaininger Adam is proud to be making his first appearance with Organic Theater Company. He received his BFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University School of Theatre and Dance. There he was part of productions such as Twelfth Night (Priest), The Winter’s Tale (Archidamus), Six Characters in Search of an Author (Son), Not About Nightingales (Shapiro) and Love’s Labour’s Lost (Ferdinand). He studied abroad at the prestigious Moscow Art Theatre School where he played Konstantin in The Seagull. His international credit includes touring to the International Adana Theater Festival in Turkey with the production of Marat/Sade (Cucurucu). In Chicago, he played Stanley in Pulse Theater Company’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire. PRODUCTION TEA M BIOGR APHIES Josh Anderson(Director-The Good Doctor) Josh has been a company member of Organic Theater since 2007. He works as a director, actor and is currently the Managing Director of the company. He recently directed productions of Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Diviners, Chekhov’s The Bear, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, Tomfoolery, and Ancient History. Favorite acting credits include The Emigrants, Rhinoceros, Theophilus North, The Police, All in the Timing, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, The Secret Agent, Man with Bags, Bartleby the Scrivener, and The $30,000 Bequest. A film version of The $30,000 Bequest is currently in post-production and can be seen soon! Ryan Breneisen (Lighting Designer) Ryan is the resident lighting designer for Organic Theater Company, lighting such shows as Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, Caligula, The Emigrants, Theophilus North, and Man With Bags to name a few. Other theatrical credits include War and Peace, Disciples and Juliet. Ryan holds a staff position at Upstaging Lighting and Transport as well as touring extensively as both a designer and electrician for such tours as Bruno Mars, Death Cab for Cutie, Rodney Carrington and World Wrestling Entertainment. Ryan holds an MFA in Lighting Design from Northern Illinois University. 2016 Summer Rep Season 5 PRODUCTION TEA M BIOGR APHIES David Doherty (Properties) Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Dave has gained theatrical experience working in cities around the globe. Dave’s professional experience includes technical direction, design, and stage management. As technical director and director of entertainment in Bamberg, Germany, he had the privilege to work with members of the U.S Army (USAEUR), civilian support personnel, and their families. He relocated to the Chicago area in 2009 with his wife, a Chicago area native, and his four beautiful children. Dave earned his BFA from Northern Illinois University in theatre design and technology in 2012. He is currently properties director at NIU and freelances in the Chicago area. Beth Drog (Technical Director) Elizabeth is in her third year of the NIU Masters program in technical direction. She has been the technical director at Rockford University for 8 years and is has also been a member of Actor›s Equity Association since 2002. She has worked in theaters in and around Rockford, including New American Theatre, New Court Theatre and Artist›s Ensemble Theatre. Jeremy W. Floyd (Costume Designer) Jeremy has been a freelance designer in and around Chicago since 2008. His costume designs have been seen at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Kansas City Rep, True Colors Theatre Company, Paramount Theatre, Drury Lane, Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, The Hypocrites, A Red Orchid, Silk Road Rising, and Remy Bumppo. Mr. Floyd received a Chicago Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for his designs of The Hot Mikado (Drury Lane, 2011). Jeremy also studied makeup design at the Makeup Designory in Burbank, CA and has worked on various film and print productions as a makeup artist and wardrobe coordinator. Mr. Floyd currently teaches Costume Design and Technology at Northern Illinois University, and has also taught at Northwestern University and the University of Kentucky. 6 Organic Theater Company c o n t. Alex Gelman (Artistic Director/ Director-Out of the Blue) Alex has been the Producing Artistic Director of Organic Theater Company since 2006. He has directed Tartuffe, Macbeth, Caligula, Rhinoceros, The Emigrants, Bartleby the Scrivener, $30,000 Bequest, All in the Timing, Bobby Gould in Hell, The Dressing Room, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, Man with Bags, The Naked King, Play Strindberg, The Police, The Secret Agent, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Theophilus North, and Tomfoolery. Alexander was born in Russia and emigrated to the United States as a teenager. He has worked as a director and translator of plays from Russian to English. He has worked at such theatres as American Repertory Theatre, Arena Stage Company, Canterbury Opera (Christchurch, New Zealand), Chicago Lyric Opera, Utah Opera, AshlawnHighland Music Festival, Chattanooga Opera Association, Hartford Stage Company, The Acting Company, New York Shakespeare Festival, Minneapolis Children’s Theatre Company, Emmy Gifford Theatre, and The Juilliard School of Drama. He co-founded Salt Lake Shakespeare and served as its Artistic Director for five years. He has also assisted such notable East European directors as Andrei Serban, Yuri Lyubimov, Lucian Pintilie, and Yuri Yeremin. Alexander is also the Director of the School of Theatre and Dance at Northern Illinois University. Anna Hendrix (Graphics Design) Anna has been a company member since 2007. She is currently a student at Oberlin, studying directing. Anna has also studied abroad at the Moscow Art Theater. She credits Organic Theater Company with the start of her theatrical passion, and its company for her growth as an artist and a person. Previous Assistant Directing Credits: Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Diviners, and this past fall he directed The Haunter of the Dark for Stage 773’s Halloween themed One Act Festival. Originally from West Virginia, Colin is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and received his BFA from Northern Illinois University, he also studied a semester abroad at the Moscow Art Theater School. Angela Kring (Stage Manager) Originally from the hills of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Angela graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in Theatre Studies and a minor in Southeast Asian Studies in 2011. Angela has been with Organic since 2010 when she began as an intern, and is thrilled to be the company’s resident stage manager. Past costume credits include design of Love’s Labour’s Lost at Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, assistant to the designer for Tartuffe and Picasso at the Lapin Agile at Organic Theater Company, and design for Love’s Labour’s Lost at Northern Illinois University. c o n t. Alyson McCandless (Co-Costume Designer – The Good Doctor) Alyson is an NIU alumni with a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology. Her recent credits included co-costume designer for Organic Theatre’s The Good Doctor, and assistant costume designer for NIU’s Three Sisters, Red Noses, Awake & Sing, and A Skull in Connemara. Greg Poljacik (Fight Director) In addition to being the inventor of the secret recipe for Gravity & Momentum’s stage blood products, Greg Poljacik has been working as a teacher and choreographer for over a decade. He has been instrumental in the training of thousands of theater students and professionals worldwide and has provided award winning choreography for over two dozen theater companies in Chicago. Currently Greg teaches stage combat at The Second City Training Center in Chicago and is a Research Consultant in the field of Cognitive/Behavioral Neuroscience. Greg also has been a guest lecturer at Columbia University Chicago and has taught at Regional workshops across the country, including co-coordinating the Winter Wonderland Workshop, the largest stage combat conference in the US. Greg is a teacher with the United Stuntmen’s Association, a member of SAG/AFTRA, the Society of American Fight Directors, AGMA, and LBP stunts Chicago. All of his work in the art of stage combat follows the principles of “Safety, Story, Substance.” Tony Reimer (Sound Design) Tony joined the company in 2007. As Resident Sound Designer, he has worked on $30,000 Bequest, All in the Timing, Bartleby the Scrivener, Bobby Gould in Hell, Caligula, The Diviners, The Emigrants, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, Macbeth, The Naked King, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Tartuffe, The Police, Rhinoceros, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, and Theophilus North. Originally an orchestral French Horn player hailing from Indiana, Tony 2016 Summer Rep Season 7 PRODUCTION TEA M BIOGR APHIES has spent most of the last 20 years freelancing in live theatre as a composer and sound designer. His work has been heard on stages and at festivals across the country and internationally. He completed his undergraduate work at Bell State University, received a Masters in Computer Music and New Media from Northern Illinois University and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Music Composition at the University of Illinois. c o n t. Graham Whipple (Co-Lighting Designer) Graham is a lighting designer in his second year of NIU’s Design and Technology MFA program. Graham is from Ojai, California and holds a degree in Theatre Arts Studies from Brigham Young University. His previous credits include lighting designs for A Man for All Seasons at Brigham Young University, Blithe Spirit at Northern Illinois University, associate lighting designer for Organic Theatre Company’s Tartuffe, and stage manager for NIU’s Art For Life 2015 and Student Choreographic Showcase 2016 dance shows.
