Using Fractions to Compare:
To compare fractions you must find a common denominator.
Example:
Step 1: Find the LCM of the denominators by listing out the multiples.
Step 2: Choose the lowest common multiple.
Step 3: Multiply using the property of one to change your denominator to the LCM you
found in step 2.
Step 4: Once the denominators are the same, the larger the numerator, the larger the
fraction.

Example: Put the following numbers in order from least to greatest.

In order to compare these numbers, you should change them all into decimals.
 To change a fraction into a decimal, divide the denominator into the numerator:

For decimals to be greater than 1, the whole number must be greater than 0. Remember, the whole number is before the
decimal point. 0.75 and 0.10 both have whole numbers of 0, so they are both less than 1.
For fractions to be greater than 1, the numerator must be larger than the denominator (improper fraction.) Since 1/5 is proper,
it is less than 1. Since 3/2 is improper, it is greater than 1. Therefore, the answer is to the question above is 3/2.

To find the percent of a number, simply multiply the decimal form of the percent by the number.
25% of $36 = 36x.25=

multiplying. Then make sure you answer the correct question. Read the question carefully!!!!!
A sweater originally costs $36 but was on sale for 25% off. How much money will you save on the sweater?
Find 25% of $36 = $9. The answer is $9.00
However: A sweater originally costs $36 but was on sale for 25% off. What was the sale price of the sweater?
Find 25% of $36 = $9. Then you need to subtract that $9 from the original $36 to get $27. The answer is $27.00

Step 1: Round each number to the nearest whole number: 3.75 ≈ 4 and 2.19 ≈ 2

Step 3:So, a reasonable estimate for 3.75 x 2.19 is approximately 8.
