Paris, 22nd April 2016 GARAGE ITALIA CUSTOMS AN ICY WRAPPING TO SAVE THE PLANET On the eve of the Visa Paris ePrix event and in the occasion of the 46th Earth Day, Garage Italia Customs revealed the livery of the single-seat Formula E. The car will be the focus of tomorrow’s charity auction for the fundraising against climate change. The project was commissioned to Garage Italia Customs by Julius Baer and TAG Heuer, with the intent of making a model with a strong visual impact which would attract the interest of public opinion regarding the effects of global warming. The creative hub funded by Lapo Elkann and specialised in tailor-made personalisation has hence graphically elaborated a special texture. It is inspired by the natural element which is most threatened by the on-going increase of temperatures: the iceberg. The new livery was then printed on an adhesive film and applied onto the bodywork of this single-seater using the wrapping technique. “We cannot deny it, the Earth is warming up and we are partly responsible for it. Global climate change is putting a strain on the environment and the only way to reverse this process is to act more responsibly for the planet. This can be done by focusing on renewable energy sources, opting for alternative mobility and going electric. The photorealistic livery I’ve created with Garage Italia Customs turns the ‘ready-for-auction’ Formula E car into an iceberg to symbolise the upcoming danger that could disrupt our lives and that has to be faced and resolved. This car represents our conceptual prototype of the car of the future, where the creativity and unique style of Garage Italia Customs are blended with performance and zero emission standards, for a safer and cleaner world.” – Lapo Elkann The proceeds of the auction will be donated to the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which has been actively involved in creating initiatives for sustainable development on a global scale since 2006. April 22nd is also the anniversary of the start of the movement for the protection of the planet in 1970. Today it involves over 1 billion people all over the world. The aim of 2016 is to succeed in planting 7,8 billion trees by 2020. THE GARAGE The main aim of Garage Italia Customs is to place its clients and their creative requirements back “in the spotlight”, in a world that has been more and more standardised and where number prevails over subjectivity. Just as a tailor-made outfit follows the lines of the body harmoniously, Garage Italia Customs aims at making any vehicle unique, be it a car, a motorbike, a plane, a helicopter or a yacht. It re-elaborates the clients’ very wishes with a tailor-made service that involves the study of detail, balance of the components and research of materials. The équipe working at Garage Italia Customs is made up of the team that created the Tailor Made service for Ferrari and the best technicians specialised in the automotive sector, specifically in the field of wrapping, painting and upholstery of interiors.
