homework Chart – 3rd Nine Weeks Please follow the homework assignments on this chart for the 3rd 9 week period. Keep it in your binder at all times. A new homework chart will be provided every nine weeks. Complete each assignment in your homework journal and turn it in on Friday! Remember to do your BEST work! Use good handwriting and illustrations! Parents: Please sign your student’s assignment once it has been completed. Your signature represents the following statement: “My student has completed their homework assignment to the best of their ability and I helped in every possible way.” Reading Math / Writing / spelling Please use the prompts From your weekly homework sheet is to be completed daily! Monday Read your just right reader. Parents: Before reading, ask your student to make a prediction about the story. Tuesday Read your just right reader. Parents: Monitor comprehension by asking your student questions before, during, and after reading. Wednesday Read your just right reader. Parents: Encourage your student to talk about their favorite parts of the story. Have them retell the story in their own words and discuss details. Thursday Complete your math prompt. Cut out & glue the math prompt into your journal. Be sure to show your thinking! Draw a picture and write a number sentence. (Example: 2 + 3 = 5) Please do your BEST work! ☺ Complete writing activity. Glue the writing prompt into your journal. Write at least 4 sentences and illustrate! Try to use words from your sight words list to write your sentences. Check for capital letters & punctuation! Circle the capital letter at the beginning of each sentence with a GREEN crayon. Circle the punctuation at the end of each sentence with a RED crayon. Complete sight word / spelling activity. Cut out your words and glue them into your journal in ABC order! Then, choose an activity from your Spelling Activities Menu to practice your words. Glue the dictation sentences into your journal & write them 1 time each. Read your just right reader. Complete the “ABC order” activity. Glue into your journal. Assignment: Complete graphic organizer and glue into your journal! Do your BEST work! For extra spelling practice, please take a “test” with a parent. Parent should call out words and dictation sentences. NOTE: If your child does not bring home a “just right reader”, please have them read a book of their choice. We may not send books every day.
