CONSTITUCIÓN DE CLUB DE ESPAÑOL DE TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL WASHINGTON, PA EL CLUB DE ESPAÑOL DE TRINITY HS I. PURPOSE The purpose of our Spanish Club is to provide educational opportunities outside of the classroom for those interested in the Spanish language and culture. The club also provides the opportunity to meet with other students and faculty interested in speaking Spanish as well as international students. II. CLUB PROCEDURES The club will meet formally during the time allowed by the school in room 182. Guest speakers will be invited, movies in Spanish will be shown, and club members will be encouraged to participate in authentic cultural celebrations. Meetings will be conducted according to parliamentary procedure. III. QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS The only qualification for membership is a desire to further one’s learning and understanding of Spanish speaking cultures and the Spanish language. Everybody is welcome! IV. OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTIONS Co-presidents: The presidents’ duty will consist of calling meetings and presiding over them, delegating duties to the other officers, and revising the constitution. Secretary: The secretary will keep track of the minutes of each meeting and email them to the other officers, keep track of when events are scheduled and ensure that planning is on track, and organize a binder of the events planned during that year and the steps taken to do so. Treasurer: The treasurer will keep track of the Spanish Club account and allocated funds, write out checks, and keep in contact with the club auditor. 1 CONSTITUCIÓN DE CLUB DE ESPAÑOL DE TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL WASHINGTON, PA Public relations: The duty of the public relations officer will be to publicize events to the Trinity Area School District community as well as to send emails to club members. Event organizer: The event organizer will organize Spanish Club events by contacting the venue, ordering food, and performing any other duties related to organizing an event. Officers shall volunteer for their positions. Candidates should be active members of the club. If a position has more than one volunteer, officers shall be elected by majority vote of the total membership of the club. The voters should have had an interest in and been active members of the club. Replacement of these officers shall be determined by the club members. Impeachment of any officer needs a majority vote, with replacement elections following. The term of these officers shall be one academic school year. *Note: if a student is interested in becoming president or vice-president of the club but he or she cannot be present at the meetings because of conflict with another position he or she may be holding with another club or council, it would be advisable that he or she may refrain from becoming president. Thus allowing other student to become president, elected democratically, who can fully fulfil the duties above mentioned fully. V. ACTIVITIES Movies, speakers, parties, conversation, attendance to Hispanic festivals and/or fairs will be included as activities for Spanish Club. VI. AMMENDING THE CONSTITUTION This constitution can be amended by a majority vote of the membership. VII. ANTI-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT The Spanish Club admits students without regard to their race, religion, color, sex, age, sexual orientation or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and other activities, generally accorded or made available to members of the organization. 2 CONSTITUCIÓN DE CLUB DE ESPAÑOL DE TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL WASHINGTON, PA VIII. ANTI-HAZING STATEMENT The Spanish Club considers hazing to be a degrading and destructive activity which is inconsistent with the standards of this student organization. The Spanish Club recognizes the dignity of every person and opposes all forms of hazing. 3
