Harper’s Ferry
• God’s angry man was
planning a slave revolt.
• Brown planned on
raiding the federal
arsenal at Harper’s
Ferry, Virginia and
distributing the arms
to the slaves in the
area to start a slave
uprising.
• With 21 men, Brown
failed.
Brown’s Hanging
• Brown was captured
by U.S. Marines
commanded by Gen.
Robert E. Lee and
turned over to
Virginia and tried to
treason.
• Brown was hanged
on December 2,
1859.

all voice in the federal
government.
• South Carolina, Mississippi,
Florida, Alabama, Georgia,
Louisiana and Texas had all
left the union.
• The Confederate States of
America was formed,
recognizing slavery in all
territories.
