Interaction s of the
Human Body
Human Organ Systems
• Tissues, organs and organ systems help provide cells with nutrients, oxygen
and waste removal
• The human organism has systems for digestion, respiration, circulation,
reproduction, excretion, movement, control and coordination.
Human Body Systems
• THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
• Consists of organs that are responsible for the mechanical
and chemical breakdown of food
• This breakdown process results in molecules that can be
absorbed and transported to cells.
Human Body Systems
• THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
• Cells use oxygen to release the energy stored in food.
• Helps us to smell and create sound.
• Supplies oxygen and removes carbon dioxide
Through breathing, inhalation and exhalation, the respiratory
system facilitates the exchange of gases between the air and
the blood and between the blood and the body’s cells.
Human Body Systems
• THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM
• Responsible for removing waste from the body
• Disposal of waste molecules , elimination of liquids and
gaseous wastes.
• The major components are:
• Kidneys, bladder, lungs, and skin
Human Body Systems
• THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
• Moves blood, oxygen and nutrients through the body
• The major components are:
•The Heart: About the size of two adult hands held together, the heart
rests near the center of the chest. Thanks to consistent pumping, the
heart keeps the circulatory system working at all times.
Veins: Veins carry deoxygenated blood to the lungs where they receive
oxygen.
•Blood: Blood is the transport media of nearly everything within the body.
It transports hormones, nutrients, oxygen, antibodies, and other important
things needed to keep the body healthy.
•Arteries: Arteries carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heart and where
it needs to go.
Human Body Systems
THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
• Consists of the brain, spinal cord, sensory organs, and all the nerves that
connect these organs with the rest of the body
ENDOCRINE SYSTEMS
• The collection of glands that produce hormones that regulate
growth and development, tissue function, and reproduction.
Human Body Systems
SKELETAL AND MUSCULAR SYSTEM
• Work together to support and allow movement of the body.
• The Skeletal System includes all the bones and joints in the body
and protects internal organs.
• The muscular system permits movement of the body, and aids in
the circulation of blood
