I am pleased to announce that after 25 years as the premiere community theatre of Herndon, Virginia, the Elden Street Players have begun an ambitious new plan to grow our organization and become the first major professional theatre company serving the entire Dulles Corridor. Introducing our new Producing Artistic Director! Dear Patrons, I am pleased to announce that after 25 years as the premiere community theatre of Herndon, Virginia, the Elden Street Players have begun an ambitious new plan to grow our organization and become the first major professional theatre company serving the entire Dulles Corridor. The decision to make this transition is one that was long considered and discussed by our Board of Directors, as well as with members of our community. As with any change, we have been met with many questions and concerns. I wanted to take this opportunity to briefly answer a few of the most common questions I have received below. What do you mean by professional? Simply put, it means that starting next season we will begin paying our actors, directors, designers, and technicians for the shows that they help create. But more than that, we view this as making a renewed and stronger commitment to bringing the best possible theatrical productions and programs to our patrons. What do you mean by professional? I grew up in Herndon and I love this area. I am a proud graduate of Herndon High School, as well as Virginia’s College of William and Mary. At the very core of this decision is the firm belief that Herndon and the entire Dulles Corridor is a vibrant and culturally rich community that deserves to have access to its own high quality, professional theatre, without having to drive 25 miles into Washington, DC. Will you still be a community based organization? Definitely, yes! In fact, more than ever! Under this new structure, we will be working harder than ever to build stronger relationships with the town, as well as local businesses and schools. Furthermore, we will continue our commitment to finding and showcasing the amazing talents of artists that live and work in our area. Will you still be a community based organization? However, as we will also continue to be a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, we are dedicated to keeping prices as low as possible so that we can reach the highest number of patrons possible. We estimate that tickets for next season’s shows will be between $25-30. We feel confidant that this will continue to be an amazing value, especially compared to other DC area theatre companies. We hope you will agree. Will ticket prices be going up? A little bit.
