The first appearennce of the word "judgment" concerns Abrahams family when it says, Genesis
18:19- For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they
shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon
Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
*JUDGEMENT is a subject that a person should not ignore because it appears in over 400
verses in the bible in both Old and New Testaments! All of the prophets talked about it,
and ranked as one of the highest subjects Jesus talked about while He walked the earth!
Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of
truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
One of the greatest things a child ever did in the bible to make God happy was in 1 Kings 3:11
And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long
life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked
for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
1 Kings 3:28 And all Israel heard of the
judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of
God was in him, to do judgment.

judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.
Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing,
whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Before the American Revolution, courts in the colonies were seen as instruments of oppression.
Juries could be locked up until they reached the "right" decision. Judges were seen as puppets of
the king. In fact, the Declaration of Independence criticized King George III for making "judges
dependent upon his will alone for the tenure of their offices and the amount and payment of their
salaries."
This experience convinced the founders that Americans needed independent courts to be
protected from unreasonable searches, rigged trials, and other examples of overreaching
government power.
Basically, the courts of this country are divided into three layers:

trial courts, where cases start;

intermediate (appellate) courts, where most appeals are first heard; and

courts of last resort (usually called supreme courts), which hear further appeals and have
final authority in the cases they hear.
What does a judge do? Maybe it's best to start with what he or she doesn't do. Even though he or
she works for the state, a judge is not a law enforcement officer. A judge is not a prosecutor.
Judges don't arrest people or try to prove them guilty.
Judges are like umpires in baseball or referees in football or basketball. Their role is to see that
the rules of court procedures are followed by both sides. Like the ump, they call 'em as they see
'em, according to the facts and law—without regard to which side is popular (no home field
advantage), without regard to who is "favored," without regard for what the spectators want, and
without regard to whether the judge agrees with the law.
John 5:22
John 9:39
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not
might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
John 12:31
Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
A jury is a group of people summoned and sworn to decide on the facts in issue at a trial. The
jury is composed of people who represent a cross-section of the community.
Matthew 12:41
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall
condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is
here.
Matthew 12:42
The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and
shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of
Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
The jury listens to the evidence during a trial, decides what facts the evidence has established,
and draws inferences from those facts to form the basis for their decision. The jury decides
whether a defendant is "guilty" or "not guilty" in criminal cases, and "liable" or "not liable" in
civil cases.
When cases are tried before a jury, the judge still has a major role in determining which evidence
may be considered by the jury. The jury is the fact-finder, but it is left to "find" facts only from
the evidence which is legally admissible. The judge instructs the jury on the legal principles or
rules that must be followed in weighing the facts. If the jury finds the accused guilty or liable, it
is up to the judge to sentence the defendant.
A grand jury is a group of people summoned to determine whether the facts and accusations
presented by the prosecutor warrant an indictment and eventual trial of the accused. It is called a
grand jury because of the relative large amount of jurors impaneled (traditionally 23) as
compared with a petit jury or trial jury.
Trial juries are traditionally composed of 12 members whose verdict is required to be
unanimous.
Psalms 1:5
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the
congregation of the righteous.

people in uprightness.
Psalms 37:28
For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved

Malachi 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we
wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he

Malachi 3:5
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the
sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress
the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his
right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

day of judgment, than for thee.
Mark 6:11
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off
the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more
tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the
wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
