Program of Research and/or Focus of Original Creative Work
Our research aims to understand how the hypothalamic oxytocin-dopaminergic (and other
neuropeptidergic) systems interact to control the secretion of prolactin from the anterior pituitary
gland in different physiological states relevant to reproduction in females (estrous cycle,
pseudopregnancy, pregnancy and lactation). A second program of research focuses on novel
roles of oxytocin in the regulation of anterior pituitary hormones other than prolactin.
